bought a used esp mii last month. Plays amazing, and love the guitar, but has the wrong width nut. Anyone know what size floyd nut fits the esp mii????

Depending on neck width, standard Floyd nuts often don’t fit perfect. They only come in a few sizes and aren’t made for specific guitar builders. The important part is that the strings lay properly positioned over the freatboard and don’t fall off the side of the neck. I’ve had decal guitars where they weren’t perfectly centered.

Hmm i never knew that. The strings seem spaced correctly, and no trouble playing-wise. .. just not used to seeing that space. I wonder if the nut has been changed. Ill try to measure it tomorrow.

That's normal. There are only so many Floyd nut sizes, and necks aren't always designed around them.

That's pretty normal.

As long as you can't feel it and the strings are centered, you are fine.

Thanks for the info. Not to beat a dead horse; but does anyone know if it is an r2 or r3 on the eap models?

One of the Charvel/Jackson “tricks” was to make a neck 1 11/16 wide but install a 1 5/8 size nut... so that’s pretty common, so much so that others picked it up.

Yep. Tom Anderson does it too...

I believe the nut size is on the bottom of the nut . Can't swear to it though

Thanks ill look when i take it apart later this week. I ordered an r3 and a .01 shim as well. Im like the princess and the pea man. If something feels off i can stand it. I broke out the calipers on it and somethings not right. Had an rr24 that i got and sold which had a similar issue.

It’s not wrong, it just moves the strings in from the edge of the fretboard a little bit.
