For gigs/recordings, Soldano SLO pedal or mini head?

I am looking for something to use as a backup for gigs and something for recordings and stumbled on the Soldano stuff again.

I have the Quilter Tone Block 202 and with the pedal, wondering if I could plug it in and have an amazing tone. The SLO mini is supposedly the same as the pedal and would be one less thing in the chain but is only 30 watts.

Which do you guys recommend? I gig with my Orange Crush 100 solid state with volume lower than half. Wondering if the mini head is loud enough for most gigs (as a backup) or if I'd be better off with the pedal. Price with both is close so thst is not an issue.

Does the Quilter act as as a power amp ? I tried the SLO pedal into a power amp (Seymour Duncan Power Stage) and it didn't sound good , too dark and muffled. That pedal is designed to go into a clean preamp. With that said I`ve got better tones out of the pedal into a Blackstar Amped 1 vs. the SLO mini . The mini SLO gets pretty loud and I`ve heard about a few people gigging with them. If you can I`d try both from say Sweetwater and return the one that doesn't cut it

Yep it is a power amp. It is like a Fender clean type of sound. What is a good example of a clean preamp versus like a Powerstage? Would that be like a Fender clean amp?

I used it thru a Blackatar Amped 1 but if I remember correctly you weren't too crazy about that one. Another option is the AMT S1 preamp pedal into the Quilter . It does a great job getting the SLO tone

Yeah, I didn't jive with the Amped 1 but great solution and cool pedal. I'll have to look into that as well.

A friend had the SLO mini amp and ran it into a Mini Rectifier 1x12 cab. Great home practice rig, but I'm not sure it gets band level kinda loud.
