For price, convenience, and great tones, which is the best 3-button preamp pedal? Tonex, Revolt, Hotone?

I have a Quilter 202 power amp and it is really great, compact, and perfect as a backup for a gig or possibly as a main rig.

I've been wanting to get a small.pedal of some type to run into the front of the Quilter. I had thr Friedman IR-X and was okay but didn't blow me away.

I thought about getting a Two Notes Revolt, Tonex, Hotone Ampero, or something else. Would like to just have something that is a few hundred dollars and just simple but a good backup to my amps.

I've run my Keeley El Rey Dorado into it with a boost and sounds killer. I've thought about a one pedal solution like an SLO pedal, Friedman BE-OD, etc. I don't need a ton of sounds and yhs Two Notes Revolt seemed pretty cool and fairly cheap.

Do you mean a simple preamp pedal with 3 knobs?

And what's the budget? :)

I like the mini ToneX pedal, money gripe is that it is very dependent on the software app.

Never tried all 3. But using my guitar players Hotone was all it took. Let a guitar player use my rig at a shared gig, and he went out and bought the same setup as me. He was ready to purchase a Splawn head and 4-12 right before using my rig. I believe he also has a Fractal.

I heard it is glitchy. Yeah just a simple three footswtich type thing.

I remember you saying that. You guys had great tones on that video I saw. 👍👍👍

I have been playing with the ToneX software, and I have been very impressed with it. It has great clarity and feel, on par with my Fractal for the basic feel and tone.

Probably the most annoying thing will be that you will have to sort through captures to find something you like,

I also think people dont understand what it is. It is basically just a capture player. You do the tweaking and sorting and such in the software. When you get what you like, you just download it to the pedal, and the pedal can play the sound.

Yeah using the app is easy, that's not what I meant. I feel like it's shitty that you need software on a pc/apple to do any of the deep stuff in the first place. And an android/ios app would be both more convenient and superior. Or better yet, two arrow buttons and a small lcd screen on the actual pedal to navigate and scroll so you don't need any app at all (Zoom MS Style). This digital + app shit isn't cool, Fry your computer and wanna masterbate? Ain't happening my friend. Nope!

Is the Zoom MS-80IR was an option, I'd vote for that over any ToneX product easily but that Zoom pedal isn't out til another month so ToneX One it is.

I didn't mean you, I just mean in general after reading a lot of threads about it lately. So many complaints online.

People forget that ToneX is a software product. It is a part of the Amplitube ecosystem. The pedal was kind of an afterthought, IMO. I don't think it was ever designed to work like a standalone traditional modeler. It is a companion of the software.

which Hotone, the Ampero II Stage?

This looks interesting. I've owned a number of Zoom products over the years, starting with the 9002 which I purchased new; I had to replace the battery, and the new battery worked for awhile before leaking/exploding and destroying the unit.

I've been looking for a small amp modeler pedal to pair with my SY-300; I used, and still have, a Boss GT-1 with it; I upgraded to the SY-1000, but to get the most out of it requires a GK pickup, which I have on two guitars, I also have a third GK but no guitar I want to put it on.

I love Fractal but that is up there price wise a bit. I was hoping the $299 arena is where people would be mentioning, lol.
Used HX-Stomp? I have and use HX-Effects, Helix, Helix Native so far...getting the Stomp for a small modeler to use with my SY-300 is under consideration...though this Zoom MS-80IR could be an option now.

M-Vave Blackbox. $80

edit: says it uses Neural Amp Modeler player and using M-Vave software you can capture pedals, preamps, maybe more that can be exported to the Blackbox

edit2: going deeper into this, it uses ANN (Audio Neural Network) profiling to capture pedals, amps, etc. even found a video where it captures Neural DSP plugins, haven't watched it yet. Also need to confirm it can use Neural Amp Modeler profiles like in the first vid

Was looking at the stomp but both look awesome. I'm actually looking at a Tech 21 apSA 2.0 too. I used to gig with a PSA 1.1.

I had the Zoom that you put on your guitar strap. They blew me away when they first came out.

I had a PSA 1.1 for years; I got the PSA 2.0 last year; sounds the same IMO, but I don't have the PSA 1.1 to compare; close enough; still holds up soundwise, but features are basic compared to even less expensive options now.

I got mine for nostalgia; I want something like the HX-Stomp to pair with my SY-300
