Isn't this pretty much nailed? It has that aggression in the mids that is MEAN!

Not at all. Has way to much gain for Balls to the wall IMHO..

Now before everyone Jumps on me.... It's a freaking Killer sound. Very Cameron like if you ask me.

Way too compressed and agree with Ralph, sounds very cameron like

here's the original for reference ... it might have slightly more gain, and more compression, but it has that signature mid-snarl.

I love this riff from my childhood. I often "test out" modded Marshall style amps by crunching into this very riff...I will tell you that the Wizard Modern Classic NAILS this tone.

I play that on my Baron K88 and it's awesome. I won't claim to nail the original sound but I have no complaints.

Agree with Ralph...great tone but different than BTTW (although I hear the mid-snarl thing that you mention).

Yea maybe a little more gain than the album, but Brian is for sure putting out some great sounding amps.

This is my favorite of his clips, and/or mods.

LOL, he does that riff in that video!

Slightly off-topic .... but were Accept, er, less than hetero?

I never caught on to Freddie Mercury or Priest, but the signs were there.... I'm a little slow ...

"Not that there's anything wrong with it....."

I agree!

However, I recently read that Wolff Hoffmans girlfriend (or band female band manger, don't remember) wrote all the lyrics....I think it's funny they didn't change the gender...The part that scares me is that in the 80's, I never stopped to consider the words even as we jammed along...Crazy!

" feel the power of lust when the guy's walking by...."
"London leather boys....."
ugh, lol

I can't speak about the entire band, but I've heard that Udo likes to smoke pole. Some of his lyrics would point in that direction as well.

From the Russian Roulette album:

Aiming High
Getting in the heat
Coming with the beat
And I love what I feel
Hard and heavy

And I'm moving on and on
'Cause my life is on the run
Now I feel the need to cry
Oh, yeah, I'm aiming high

Longing all my life
Waiting for a friend
Who is fighting like I do
Likes to do it hard and heavy

It's a man's, man's world
Filled with love and pain
And he never gets enough
And that keeps him very tough

Stand Tight
My bones are trembling
Veins are filled with ice
I see you swagger through
Your boots are shiny, too

I still feel your torture
Messing up my life
I cannot forget
How you showed me your despise

Deep down in the gravel
I lie and wait for relieve
And I hear the orders you scream
Sounds like a choir to me

Stand tight all right
And assume the position we all stand together
Stand tight all right
And assume the position we all stand together

I know I am unconscious
Just what you like to see
You say you've got to drill me
And you let me kiss your gun

I have to clean your boots
In every way you like
You deny my human rights
You don't make it easy

And I am so down
So devoted and humbled to you
What more can a slave remain
Before he floods away

Stand tight all right
And assume the position we all stand together
Stand tight all right
And assume the position we all stand together

Stand tight all right
We all stand together
All right
We all stand together
All right
We all stand together
All right
We all stand together

METALLIAN: Now I need to bring up all the homosexual innuendo.
WOLF: Oh. Yeah.

METALLIAN: The reason, obviously, is the album cover and songs like London Leatherboys, Love Child, etc.
WOLF: I loved it! No, I never loved it that much, but I think it was Gaby's idea mostly. It was mostly just another idea to be controversial. It was just another taboo area that nobody talked about. You gotta remember that in Germany all that kind of stuff, nobody even raises an eyebrow. I mean people mention it, but they go on. It's mostly the Americans and maybe the Canadians and surely the Japanese, I don't want to say panic when you mention the word, but there is a homosexual phobia almost going on. Nobody in the band was gay or is gay or probably ever will be gay. It was like the lyrics were to play around with the people a little bit and to shake people up. I mean we wouldn't think people would even talk about it. It never crossed my mind that the cover was "gay" or anything. I think it's a little controversial if anything with a guy and a leg. It was out of an art book that had a similar photo in there that inspired us to do it. Perhaps it was a fashion kind of photo or art book I don't know what. So that's the cover. It didn't have a huge meaning. It just worked with that 'balls to the walls' idea. The whole thing was meant to be controversial more than anything not very meaningful.

So they meant to be controversial, but didn't think anyone would care?

That BTTW tone is pure JCM800 2203/2204 w/6550's, on 10.

Yikes:

"I know I am unconscious
Just what you like to see
You say you've got to drill me
And you let me kiss your gun" :scared:

Here is my attempt at that tone, made about a year and a half ago, using an amp I have since sold. Low volume, of course:

Pretty close.... Still don't hear that pissed off midrange. Might be the camera compression...

Yeah, power tube saturation leads to more pissed off midrange! I was using all preamp tube gain, with the treble set lower to try and compensate.
