Here's a little test clip of my Fortin Grind with my Dual Rectifier Rev F and Uberschall Rev 2. Forgive my shitty riffs, I just wanted to show a quick before and after tone for anyone that might be interested.

Cool vids buddy.

Guess my question is any difference between it and some other overdrives?

Considering how many options there are out there for boosting and OD pedals, that's hard to answer. I can say that the Grind pedal adds just what the name entails, it's adds a nice grainy/grindy sharp cutting tone to the amp and cuts a lot of bass. I had to actually dial the amp in very different then I normally would because of how much bass the pedal cuts, I had to jack the bass way high beyond my normal range to fill the bass back in but it stays tight as a razor when the pedal is engaged.

How does it compare, realistically, to a Maxon OD 808 or something similar? Does it add a mid spike?

Not the OP, but I can comment on that. You get the low end roll off with both, so each give you a mid push, but the roll off is in a different spot. Plus, the grind doesn't shave off the top end like an 808. So they both sound a behave very differently hitting your amp.

I did a comparison with my OD808 and the Grind pedal was much more pleasing to my ear with better cut and more pronounced harmonics. It does add a bit of mid spike, and that awesome grind/grain to the tone but overall I found it more pleasing to my ear then the OD808.

Sounds cool!

I can hear just a tiny bit of a cocked wah sound, esp with the Uberschall and the Grind together. Not much at all - just a function of the pedal's EQ. It's great. Really has that 'take the blanket off the speaker' effect, imo.

The more I hear about it, the more I feel the need to pick one up. Now to free up some cash!

Hmmm... might pick one up when used ones start popping up.

Sounds great! sold out now so hopefully they will be available again soon.

I've been testing this pedal out the last week or so. To my ears it sounds nearly identical to my Aldrich rocket fuel when providing a slight boost for my Atomica. Into the VHT CLX100 it sounds/feels a bit better than the rocket fuel. I also touch the signal first with a badgerplex in low-gain mode. Glorious! Great pedal..... Don't think it can kick the rocket fuel off of the pedal board though.
