Fractal FX8 and EVH 50 Watt EL34 head midi channel switching

Don't know if this goes here or the Tech corner section so pardon me if this is in wrong spot on forum.

I have a FX8 and recently picked up a EVH 50 Watt EL34 head. I understand that the head doesn't accept the relay switching from the FX8 and the only way to use the FX8 to change the EVH channels is via MIDI. I have searched the web and I see how you set the PC scenes and registers to change the channels but for some reason I cannot get this to function. I see there is on the web an actual EVH document showing how to clear the current EVH MIDI programs and to program the MIDI from the head as well. I haven't done MIDI since I owned a ADA MP1. Do you have to do both sides programming? EVH side and FX8 side? Seems so easy on the video on line where 0 is channel 1, 1 is channel 2 and 2 is channel 3 for switching in the PC section of the FX8

Is there a clear cut procedure as to how to do this from someone on this site to help me out....step by step, cracker trail and all?

I use the FX8 to switch channels on my VH4, I'm midi stupid and it took me a while to figure it out. Of corse the VH4 is completely different head .

Yeah MIDI stupid sums it up with me as well! I read the EVH tech page that I found on line and looks like you have to reset the heads MIDI registers. This is a second hand amp so don't know if they used it with another MIDI device or not? Sound like per the EVH tech page that all PC registers will default to the green channel until you clear the previous registers and program each channel one at a time starting with the head then programming your midi controller.

I may have this working but with the amp defaulting all the PC registers to the green channel may be the issue? We will see when I get home tonight.

We will see how many ID10T errors I can create out of my MIDI ignorance...……….lol

I did it although its been a while and I don't remember exactly. It was stupid easy. I left the amp at the stock setting. I went into the midi setting for each preset on my AX8(FX8 should be the same) and setting it to 1 would call up channel 1 on the amp,changing it to 2 on the AX8 would call up channel 2 on so on. Sorry I can't be more specific but like I said it's been a while.

Got it. The link that you provided had the EVH tech notes on how to program the MIDI that I mentioned in my first post Now that I am home from the office, I had to go through this procedure on the amp first and then in conjunction with the FX8 and it works perfectly.

Glad it worked out. That was the document that I had used also.
