So, I have and really like the Friedman Buxom Boost. It's the best boost I've used, best tool I've found for shaping the tone of an amp, especially for crunchy rock tones. Works well for high gain too.

Well, I bought the Friedman Golden Pearl. It's the best Boost/OD I've found for hitting the front of an amp for leads. It's incredible. Takes it to a whole new level. I'm completely floored. Both pedals feel like part of the amp circuit and they stack perfectly which I have struggled to find. They integrate perfectly almost like stages within the amp. Unbelievable.

It does everything I would want an overdrive into am amp to do, for leads. Fattens the tone, makes it buttery and smooth, adds a little midrange, and push/juice.

Amazing that I can take the green channel, shape or with the Buxom and hit it with the GP for leads. Works well on all gain channels. Have not tried the GP on the clean channel yet. They are permanently on my board now

Hated the Golden Pearl. Mud City for rhythm playing.

I think we are all different in what we like and what works. Lots of guys recommended it so I am glad I tried it.
For me and my amps, it's the best OD I've had in 30 years.
But I also love singlecuts and I have friends who can only play strats and doublecuts. Different strokes for different folks. :)
I don't use it for rhythm, only leads, takes em to another level and stacks with my Buxom perfectly. I also know it was designed as more of a lead boost and it does it so well. For me, better than anything I've used.
Buxom does rhythm and I like having pedals that specialize. :)

i love the buxom boost. Love! May try the pearl again some time - had it once for a few days as part of a trade

I have had both. I liked each for different things, but they were always used for boost only. Remember liking them at the time.

I tend to use less low end than most, so I think that I sold them only because I ended up sticking with a simple SD1 and a Koko for when I wanted a bit more low end retained.

Yep, love them. They will not leave my board.
The pedal I disliked the most was the Koko.
Different strokes.
