Really been digging the Golden Pearl as a boost to push an already driven amp. To use a buzzword, it's one of the most transparent drives I've tried! Check it out. ⚡

I hated that pedal. All I got from it was mud, and couldn't sell it fast enough.

Damn! Sorry to hear that. I'm really used to a BB Preamp as a boost and I love having both a Treble & Bass control, but I was digging the tones I got from this one.

Congrats on your channel man, the video / audio quality / playing / gear / are all great, it’s cool that you’re active here.

I hate to say it, but Dave's pedals are so good that I feel no need to spring for one of his amps. I have a 2203 that cost far less than a BE-100. Throw a $150 Friedman pedal in front of it and it sounds fantastic.

Your demo sounded good, however, (as usual!)

Have you tried a Buxom Boost? I really like that one. Owned it 3 times! Killer, transparent pedal!

What amps were you using it with? I think Dave tends to tailor his stuff more to Marshall style amps so maybe anything not based on that might have responded differently? It sounds fairly neutral and not bass heavy to me.

I need another OD like I need more sugar in my diet and I am fairly happy with my setup but that fire always burns... I'm not sure it is that different than anything I have now but to me sounds like an extension of the amp. That's a good thing. Price isn't too ridiculous either.

Which of his pedals do you like best in front of your 2203?

Actually, I'm moving more and more away from gain, so no pedals with the 2203. But when I was using very clean amps as pedal platforms, the Dirty Shirley pedal was my fav. I ended going with a BE-OD Deluxe pedal because I needed a boost option. But, even with the internal trim pots on 0, they were too gainy for me. Now I use an SD-1.

Ha! Right back to the basics. I always keep mine on hand. The only complaint I have is it is a tad noisier than anything else I have but right now I rock the JHS Bonsai most and really, aren't TS and SD's all variations of one another. Agreed on stock crunch though, My 2204 MV on 6 with preamp around 7-8 is a thing of beauty. Volume conquers all. Friedman's value is in how his stuff sounds low volume.

Pretty much my choice for pushing the amp from open narly crunch to modded plexi territory. Great demo, represents the pedal very well.

Which means you disliked it enough to sell it three times. :D   :gethim:

I had a Splawn at the time.

Or liked it enough to buy it again twice.

Only reason I sold the last one is I have a Savage Drive and VFE Dragon. Nothing will dethrone the Dragon, and the Savage Drive has it's place as well. I wouldn't hesitate to own another Buxom Boost, if I *needed* another boost. Only sold them to try other things, like most people here. One was to buy a Golden Pearl that I sold and bought back the Buxom Boost.
