Friedman JEL-20 arrived today - This is the tone of heard in my head all of these years!

I actually don't know how to play any actual song riffs anymore.
I will have to try to learn something.
If you can recommend something simple I will give it a shot.

I have adult ADD when it comes to learning new stuff, that is why I improvise all my playing.

If it is simple chords and bar chords no problem.
Tech to learn the beginning of Rock and Roll Rebel. That is a great Jake riff.

Amp sounds great man! I listened to some of the tones and has great bite and stands out more than the other small Friedman amps.

That should be doable....

I watched a video of Red Dragon Cartel doing that and Jake was using a EVH 5150

ill say, i use the IR-J and i plugged it into the fx loop return of a product that shall remain nameless--- and i preferred the IR-J preamp.... Dave did a fantastic job on the Jake line of product.

I really wish I still had the IR-J to compare it to my JEL-20.
I don't want to discourage people from buying the IR-J.

it took some getting used to, and learning how it should be dialed, but i used it throught the fx return also of a JCM2000 on the Monsters of rock cruise... and was able to do Paul gilbert much easier than a stock 2000, and with more articulation & cut too.

I think the IR-J in to a non master volume amp would be great.
You would be getting that great pre-amp gain that the non master volume amp could not get.
I think me running it in to Friedman and Marshall Master volume amps was not allowing the IR-J to shine as those amps already had very good to great pre-amps.

I think the IR-J would be perfect for that. When I saw Ratt a few months ago, both Erik and Johnny were using preamps into the effects loop of Marshalls and sounded killer.

If the IR-J is that good it's too bad my DSL40 broke before I got a chance to get one. I was afraid of the reliability of the DSL and just got the JEL20 instead. The IR-J would have saved me a lot of money.
