Friedman Pickups for Friedman Guitar

I picked up a used Friedman Cali. Love the guitar but it came with Duncan Antiquity pickups. The Antiquity pickups have no potting so they are unusable with any high gain setting on the bridge pickup unless I have my pre and post noise gates set super high to choke out all of the squealing noise from the bridge pickup.

My question is that I mainly use EVH pickups in all of my guitars but would like to put a set of Friedmans in the Cali to get it back to stock. What is everyones impression on these? Looking to maybe go with the Classic plus in the bridge and the classic in the neck.

Thanks in advance.

I really like the stock pickups in my Cali. I have no reason to want to change them out.

bitchin guit

I bought a used Friedman bridge HB and put it in me 58 LP Reissue. I like it a lot

I think they sound great. All depends what you want. I have 3 friedman guitars, all had classic+ in bridge and classic in neck. I did swap out 2 of them to use a higher output pickup, but not because they sounded bad, just cus I wanted higher output for what I'm using those.guitars for.

Edit: I should note that the one that I kept the classic+ in is my cali... it just sounds right as it is.

I had the Classic + and classic in my Charvel. They sound great but I prefer a higher output bridge to hit the amp a bit harder. Went with a Suhr Aldrich. Those always sound great in a super strat.

There's always the higher output Friedman Triple D...

I picked up a set of the Suhr Aldrich pickups yesterday that I plan to use. Had those in the past with great results. I agree on the higher output pickup thing as I am used to the EVH pickups which have around 16K on the bridge and the Aldrich is pretty close.
