Friedman Pink Taco V2 - Is this noise normal on start-up?

I was going to take a wood pencil and tap the tubes to see which one is Microphonic.
That is how I used to find bad tubes.
This amp is new, so if I don't have to change all the tubes I would like to keep spares.
That's why you should take one out of the other amp and check each one in the PT. Once you find the bad one, toss it, and replace the one you took from the other amp, and keep the spares.

Understood. There’s no reason to change all of the tube because of one. Do the swap like I’m suggesting though

Thanks guys...

I think I am going to do the wood stick test first, if that doesn't identify it, your solutions are next.

Did the chopstick test to find the bad microphonic tube...

I think it is the first pre-amp tube in the back, maybe the one next to it.
I can't tell if the 1st tube is picking up when I tap on the one next to it.
Probably play it safe and replace both.

Made a video, what do you think..

All you’re doing is proving that V1 is the most sensitive tube position. We already knew that though.

Dave Friedman told me the following via e-mail concerning my issue:

"Tubes being sent try the power tubes first.. I did send preamp tubes in case.."

The chances of it being V1 AND V2 is probably slim to none. I'm betting on V1, or maybe Dave's right, and it's a power tube. I've typically found that kind of oscillating/noise a preamp tube.

Will that change the tone of the amp?
Also, the map buzzes like crazy, I thought it was my room outlets, could a V1 cause that?

Dave's high gain amps are a little noisy. Not much, but more than I am used to... But my JEL20 got a lot quieter when I changed out the tubes.

My new tubes arrived today..

I did the V1 first and it still was making the same noise, but i knew that tube was no good so I left the new one in V1 and changed V2.
It is much quieter, but since it already was slightly warmed up I needed to let it cool down for a while to be sure.

I checked it a half hour later and it is quieter, but still making a few quieter crackling noises, so i am going to really let it cool down.
If at that point it is still making any weird noises I will change the last pre-amp tube and both power tubes.

If at that point it is still making any weird noises that my other two Friedmans don't make I will return it.
Since I bought it on Amazon from Sweetwater, they won't do an exchange.
I will have to return it, wait for my refund and then reorder another one.

I will keep you posted.

that weird I have two of his high gain amps and they are dead quiet

I changed every tube and now the amp is making no crackling noises.
I will try it again tomorrow when the amp is cold.
I am hoping it is all good.
