I was really excited to hear these delays, as I am a big tape and modulated delay fan. Big let down.
The tape delay does not sound like a worn tape, but rather a delay with chorus on it, which he basically says.
The oil can seemed exciting and then it just....wasn't. Again, basically just a delay with some rotary to it in the repeats with a setting that is hardly modulated and sounds like a chorus or something far too whacky sounding and not musical. No in between. A knob to dial that to taste would have made this pedal 100x better.
The delay sounds from both units were not deep sounding - very flat.
So you make a pedal that has the chorus and rotary sounds in one.
You take the chorus from that pedal and put it in a delay and call it tape.
You then take rotary basically and put it in a delay and call it oil can.
Am I missing something here?
Genius idea and very efficient use of algorithims and time and to be honest, he says these are aimed at beginner guitar players.
For that market - a $99 beginner effects pedal - they do the trick . Can't complain there.
If however, you are not a beginner looking for a cheap pedal, is there any real appeal?
Pass.
