I know every now and then there is a request for various new modules. But I'm curious, is there any Egnater (or even Randall) module that could be modded for the classic 70s Orange amp sound? A bit plexi-ish, but dirtier, in a really grainy way, not simply "hotrodded" or with more gain or mids or whatever.

Basically, I'd love an Orange-inspired module. ;)

I was under the impression that you could also order a custom module if you wanted something they didn't offer? Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe it's something they did when they had less demand.

Im guessing a tweaked Vx could do this.
I took the Vx over to a buddies house and he's got a Tiny Terror and a Rocker 30 and the Vx definitely got into that territory. These are the newer gen Orange though.I did have to give the Vx alot of gas :D

It can be done, although I am not speaking for Egnater here at all. A friend from the MTS forum, whose board name was lightwithoutheat, his real name was Felix, built an Orange module. He used a Randall Clean module and designed the circuit himself. he lives here in Austin now and I stay in touch occasionally although he does not post much over there any more. You might be able to PM him. I have never played a real old Orange amp before, only the new Tiny Terror. All I can really say is the module was VERY unique and I loved the sound of it. My bass player keeps telling me I have to get one again. It only had one 12AX7 in it. Like I said killer module. The Egnater folks seem to be awful busy these days and I have no doubt they would do one for you, i just would not count on it showing up quickly.

Cool—I've got and love the VX. I wonder what it would take to get it to sound like a 80s/90s "vintage" Orange? I think they have a bit of a different treble voicing. Or that is to say, less "chime" and more "grit." So perhaps the treble control operating at lower frequencies, a different capacitor, etc? Then again, I think a lot of that grit comes from the power section, so perhaps playing power tube games would have a lot to do with getting it right also...
