Egnater EG3/4 Module

I bought this about a month ago from an auction on eBay, and it sounds awesome. I have 6 modules, and this was a bit too dark for my tastes. Great sounding module though!!! $310 shipped to you anywhere in the continental USA.

I'm aware that the EG3/4 is basically a "darkened" verison of the SL2, but what does "darkened" really mean in terms of tone? Not as bright?

My comparisons of the EG3/4 are a bit different than what you describe. The EG3/4 is a bit tighter through the mids and not as "squishy" in the mids as the SL2. (I personally LOVE the squishiness of the SL2). The EG3/4 is a bit darker on the high end, which a lot of people love. Its a very well balanced module for those that like their marshallesque tone a bit less bitey. It fits in the mix of a live band very well. Its a very warm module, very organic, and has a very brown sound. For my personal taste, I like a brighter sound, more sparkly sound (hence why i like the T/D better than the Bassman). This module rips man! It sounds awesome. Its just not a module for my personal tastes. The EG5, SL2, and COD fit my tastes perfectly!

I was pissing around with the SL2 this morning and for the hell of it, I tossed on the backing track for "For The Love Of God" (yeah I know, I'm a dork). The SL2 has way too much bite for duplicating the leads in that song. I'm really really digging the SL2 over the EG5 but sometimes it's got way too much bite for leads. I should probably try the EG3/4 then eh?

So the EG3/4 is to the SL2 as the MHG is to the EG5?
