FOR SALE:
Egnater Single Channel EG3 module.
SOUND DESCRIPTION: Very dark and smooth overdrive module. Best suited for legato solo playing, fusion-y stuff, classic rock leads, etc. With some tweaking, it can get some fat grinding rhythm tones too.
GAIN LEVEL: Definitely not what I'd call super-high gain. More like, medium-high gain. Works well with boosts in front of it.
TONE CONTROLS: Peculiar tone controls, in the case that the bass sounds the best at 9:00, and the treble kicks in at 2:00. That being said, if you adjust with your ears, and not your eyes, it sounds fat and smooth.
TWEAKS/MODS: When I got the module, it was ridiculously too dark for my tastes. I removed the high-end-roll-off cap that was on the upright circuitboard to open up the high end, a la an SL module. Also, the input coupling capacitor has been changed to a .001 Orange Drop, giving it a tighter bass response.
FULL DISCLOSURE MODIFICATION NOTES: While removing the 1000pf High End Roll-off cap from the upright tube board, the eyelet on the circuit board was SLIGHTLY raised off the board. However, the copper trace is still fully connected to the eyelet.
The input coupling capacitor mod was 100% successful. I will include the original input coupling capacitor with the module.
With a new 1000pf 500V silver mica cap, and the included input coupling capacitor, and some delicate, careful, but minor soldering work, this module can be put back to 100% stock very easily, should you choose to do so.
******************************************
Bottom line: The module is just too smooth for me. In retrospect, I would have been better off getting a more marshally SL++ kinda single channel module. Anyway, my loss, your gain. Get a great condition single channel EG3 on the cheap!!!
I bought this modules direct from Egnater for $260.00.
SELLING IT FOR $175.00 shipped.
PM me with any Questions, or possible trades.
