Short version of story: It's 2025 and I need to thin the herd, and I have a LOT of great Marshalls. Some "bucket list" amps that just don't get the love and attention they deserve in my crowded amp room will be available as well as some really cool amps that I happen to own 2 or 3 of. I need to get the amp room down to way fewer amps. Mostly looking for cash but am open to a handful of trades that I will list at the bottom.
These are listed on Reverb but obviously better deals to be had on TGP. Click on the reverb links in the titles for pics and additional details.
So, here goes:
1. 1982 JCM800 100w 2203 with Bogner "Snorkeler" mod (https://Reverb(dot)com/item/86685864-marshall-jcm800-2203-with-bogner-snorkeler-mod)
Listed for $6k on Reverb. On TGP I am looking for $5k net to me (meaning, after fees and shipping). Trade value higher. This is a "bucket list" amp and its every bit as good as youve heard. There is a reason that Bogner's mods are legendary. I only have one of these but this deserves to go somewhere where it will be the top amp in a collection and get played all the time.
2. 1975 JMP 100w JMP Super Lead with Monomyth "Dark Sun" mod (https://Reverb(dot)com/item/86686639-marshall-jmp-super-lead-with-monomyth-dark-sun-modification)
Listed for $3,500 on Reverb. On TGP I am looking for $3k net to me (meaning, after fees and shipping). Trade value higher. This one is ready to melt faces! One of Shea's earlier mods (early 2020). I have two of Shea's amps though, so one can become someone else's favorite amp. The hype is real with Monomyth, this thing is awesome.
3. 1978 JMP 100w JMP with Custom Mod from Dan Gower (https://Reverb(dot)com/item/86705409-marshall-78-jmp-with-custom-dan-gower-mod)
Listed for $4k on Reverb, on TGP I am looking for $3,500 net to me. Trade value higher. Another one where I have two very similar amps so I am letting one go. I asked Dan to do something custom and asked for his take on the popular "AFD" mod/tone and he didnt disappoint. Tonally its very similar to my KK++, with an additional mid-shift control. It still has the switchable extra gain stage and "feel" control (the two best parts of KK++ in my opinion) and it still has the negative feedback controls on the back. This one and the KK++ are similar enough that the entire decision on which head to keep came down to the KK having a loop and this one not having a loop. Still, you have an opportunity to own a unique custom amp from Dan and if you want a loop there are tons of local techs who could fit a metro loop on this one pretty easily.
4. 2000's DSL 100 with Voodoo Amps "Platinum Metal mod ($$Sold)
$$Sold
5. 2020 Audette Plexi Clone with "R/T" mod (https://Reverb(dot)com/item/86686356-audette-amps-r-t-mod-one-off-plexi-clone-2020-black)
Listed for $1299 on Reverb, looking for $1k net to me on TGP. This one has a long and odd story but after some shipping damage the headshell was replaced with a much better Ceriatone headshell and Dave Hopkins (amp tech extraordinaire) fixed a few things. Sounds cool, but my amp room is really crowded with plexi clones at this point. PTP wired and added some gut shots to Reverb listing just now.
I also have a Mesa "Rev F" Dual Rectifier (OG, not a reissue) that I will make a separate thread for. And hopefully this week I will get the thread of "high end boutique Marshall knock offs" posted. I have a ton of those too!
Okay, now the fun part! A few notes:
1. This aint a fire sale. Im not desperate to move any of this stuff. Potentially open to offers but everything on this list is awesome, rare, and highly desirable.
2. Shipping. If you want to estimate shipping, I am located in the Charlotte, NC area. I've bought some brand new heavy duty boxes from U-Line that are 36x12x12 and most of these will be in the 50lb ballpark. Part of this taking forever to get listed was not having good boxes haha. We've all had the experience on here where we bought a sweet & expensive amp and it arrived in a crappy box that was coming apart at the seams and we thought "seriously bro? seriously?". Well, Im not gonna be that guy! After dropping like $500 at U-Line I have heavy duty boxes & high quality shipping materials that I am confident will get all of this stuff to you safely.
3. Trades - I mostly am looking for cash but am open to a few things. By the time this amp sale is over, I will have moved a bunch of things but that will make room for a few new things. My policy on trades is always "shoot your shot! The worst I will say is "no thank you". But in case you're wondering what I am specifically looking for? Here you go:
Amps I am open to for trades:
1. Friedman JEL-100
2. Mesa JP2C
3. Diezel VH4
4. Metropoulis MetroPlex (potentially open to DVL)
5. Mesa Multi-watt Dual Rec
6. Peavey 6505 reissue (must be the new reissue)
7. Old 4x12 cabs with vintage celestion speakers - must be straight cabs. Cab can actually be newer as long as speakers are old.
I am potentially open to some high-end amps that are not high gain, like the HW Vox head, or Matchless, or high-end Fender.
I am probably set on guitars but could maybe be persuaded for:
1. Gibson R0 or R4 (the one with the wraparound bridge and P90's)
2. Core PRS (I have a bunch of these, but feel free to try. I am a native Marylander with a soft spot for PRS)
Questions? Hit me up!
thanks dudes!
