Did this quickie of the hellbabies. I have them wired so that in the middle position, you are playing both humbuckers in split coil mode. So I got through the 3 positions, starting with distortion...bridge, middle, neck, then clean...neck, middle, bridge. Hope this helps any one who has questions about these...especially firejack. When I get my condenser back, Ill do some more too.

Nice work Raf.

Well I really dig the Hell Baby bridge!!!
It really does have some nice attack and chunk.
And that dry voicing sounds awesome for a bridge pickup.
I'm going to grab one for sure.

The middle split position seems to get some nice twang too.

But I'm not quite sold on the Hell Baby neck.
It just doesn't seem to be compressing and saturating the way I like.
Has that same dryness like the bridge Hell Baby (which I really don't like in a neck pickup).
Of course I'd have to play it to really know for sure - but from what I can tell from the clip, the neck model just doesn't appear to be what I'm looking for.
It doesn't seem to sound liquidy or smooth enough for my tastes.

I absolutely LOVE these pickups. I just sold my painkillers yesterday, and bought a set of hellbabys for my ninja lol. I really like the twangy spanky tone I get from the middle position too. Its something Ive been missing from this guitar since I put actives in it, and now I have it back!!

I completely agree about what you are saying about the neck pup, but I think I like that about it. Its a very open and noncompressed sounding pup. I think this is what I was trying to achieve by buying the deliverance...guess I just needed some different pups lol. It doesnt get very saturated. Maybe if you crank the gain on the amp. It does have the same type of character as the bridge. Im gonna call the tech today to see if my guitar is ready with the BGs. If it is, Ill get some clips up of those this weekend. I really, truly, honestly think that the Lizard neck is gonna be what you are looking for. Dont take my word on it though, Ill get some clips of it up and you can see how it sounds. Ill do something with the hellbaby and the lizard just in the neck position in the same clip so you can get a feel for their differences.

Also, sorry if the clips arent great. Im going through a lot of life changes and emotional bullshit right now, so my head isnt always where it needs to be when Im playing.

Haha yeah man, I saw your Painkillers in the classifieds.
Mate the clips are perfect.
Enabled me to identify that the Hell Baby neck doesn't quite have the character that I'm looking for.

And the thing is, I really need the neck pickup to have that juicy, smooth, liquid sound inherent in the pickup because I tend to set my amp's gain below half-way for a heavy crunch sound, and then let pickups, playing dynamics and pedals do the rest.
So for my tastes and applications using a neck pickup... most of the character, compression and drive needs to come from the neck pickup.

Really looking forward to the comparison with the BG's mate.

Cool man, glad it helped. Im looking forward to getting the BG clips up too. I bought the guitar midway through march, couldnt pick it up til the 4th, and the tech has had it since. Its getting a bit ridiculous. Apparently hes having trouble finding a short push/pull pot or something. I hope its ready today...

I'm in the same boat with my PGM301 that's getting the Aldrich set installed.
