What a great pedal .....

I am not a fan of a lot of pedals, but this thing is pretty impressive. I was checking out the voice differences of a OCD and PlimSoul, I liked the OCD better than the PlimSoul. Plugged in a Catalyst and lost interest in both. It allows you to shape the sound many ways and has great dynamics.

Anyone else have experience with this pedal ?

A friend brought over yesterday a Catalyst for me to check out with my gear. I still have it .... for now.

This thing well do clean boost, overdrive, distortion, fuzz.
It is a very versatile pedal to say the least.

Dynamics and reacts to the guitar volume well.
It does great at getting Led Zep I and II and Cream type sounds, I like this range best on it.
The fuzz is not over the top...... it well not do some of the crazy stuff you can do with a Vzex Fuzz Factory (but few do).
The tone controls allow you to get some pretty fat sounds or the more anemic flavors.
Backing off the Treble knob well get rid of some the harshness as you turn up the Gain.
As you get past 3 o'clock on the Bass/Mids knob it starts giving a pretty cool midrange boost.
The Spark/Flame switch gives two different ranges/voices.
I really like the OD sounds on the Spark setting.

Wide range of sounds and easy to control.

Some people have said it well do a sound that is between a Fulltone Fat-Boost and a OCD. I wish I had them here to A/B in that range with my gear.

Mike claims he has fixed all the temperature sensitive tone and impedance mismatch problems that happen with a lot of fuzz pedals.

I played one recently and really liked it. IMO it is a MUCH better pedal than the OCD. Like you said, it can do a bit of everything. It reminded me a bit of Keeley Fuzz Head pedal. Kind of a mix of an OD/Clean boost/Fuzz. But the fuzz on both pedals isn't gnarly and doesn't break up or get nasty. More like a smooth distortion on the verge of getting into fuzz territory. Cool pedal.

You are right ..... it just get's into the fuzz stuff, nothing over the top.

...... just when I thought my OCD was the shizzle......

So is this like an expanded OCD? May have to try one. If it is all that... it may find it's way on the pedalboard.

What sort of amp does this pedal seem to play best with?

Is it available in pink to match the Hello Kitty guitar?

No it is a different pedal than the OCD .... definably a different animal. The OCD is pretty flat EQ .... with the Catalyst EQ you can get real thick overdrive with midrange boost or use it like a treble booster, etc.

For a pedal that does fuzz it is very dynamic.

I was playing it on a Fender Deluxe at the store and my THD Series One Plexi (JMP style amp) with a stack set clean here and was getting some very cool sounds from both. I have not tried it with a driven amp yet. I like to see how they react to preamp and poweramp distortion. As versatile as the pedal is I would not be surprised if I could find sounds that work with both kinds of amp distortion and a clean rig. But have not checked that out yet.

As everyone knows some pedals work much better with certain amps. I also have had limited time with it .... so it is only the honeymoon so far. I am a big fan of direct into the amp .... but certain sounds can only be done with pedals.

I am sure it would look great with the Kitty ...

Just as figured it worked just as well with the amp distorted.
