hi guys,

just bought a vh4 from ebay cause i wanted one so badly all along. it arrived yesterday, yeah! but two fuses (3 and 4) are blown and the fuse caps 3 and 4 (other than 1 and 2) seem very used...

do i have to fear a soon breakdown? is this a sign that i have bad el34s in pos 3 and 4?

buy the way it has the serial number 080104Z. does that mean it was produced on january 4th 2008?

The tube could have been damaged in shipping. As for the fuse holders, they are not meant to see a lot of use and get worn out
fats when not using the right tool. Maybe Peter can post the replacement part number from Schurter or you can email him.
I have never worried about any of my VH4's not being reliable.

Your Serial Number:

08- 2008

0- VH4 Mono

141- 141st Made in 2008

Z- I have no Idea

well the "Z" could also be a "2" but 1042 are quite a number for handbuilt amps?! That would be 5 VH4 per day...

i plugged in some new fuses and see what'll happen... but i'm a bit puzzled about the worn out fuse-caps for V3 and V4...

i started to pull tubes to see what i got:
- 4x EL34L JJ
- V1-V2: TAD 7025/E83CC Highgrade
- V3: no name
- V4-V7: TAD 12AX7A-C selected
are these the standard tubes on a 2008-Vh4?

i think i'll retube the beast... as discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=63598 a good choice can be:
- 4x EL34BHT
- V1: TAD 7025 premium
- V2-V7: Shuguang 12AX7B

Any new insights on this tube combination?

1994 till 2010, let´s say 200 working days a year = 3200 days.

1402 / 3200 days = 0,438 pieces a day

And it depends also on the number of members there
are in the company. I´m right or wrong ?

;)

Btw, fuse caps and fuse socket is type FEF from SCHURTER.

Ah OK  , thought it were 1042 pieces in the year 2008... that would be .... 1042/200 = 5 per day... record challenging ;)

... AND by the year 2020 the guitar world would be diezelfied!!

love (!) the second channel by the way....

thanks for this great amp, peter! no amp ever suited me that well... and midi-integration with the g-system is smoooooooooooooth

do i have to fear a powertube failure in near future if the fuses 3 and 4 blew the second time??

Well, take an eye on it. If You want to be safe
put an quartet EL34BHT in it.
