Hi to all,
due to the volume of request and doubts concernig how to interface,to use,to find the "tone"
most similar to our amps i think that a little guide can be appreciated.

First of all excuse me for my bad english, any mod or admin feel free to change and rectify
my errors.

Another thing:i think that is most usefull for us to focus the thread only on G-system and not
include other multifx like boss gt 10,eventide eclipse, axe fx etc;it is more simple.

I'll make a first batch of guidelines where anyone find trouble feel free to ask more.

1) How to connetc G-System

There are many method to connect the G with our amps, i assume that the most frequently
used are: G all in the fx loop or the four cable method.
In both we'll use only the serial send and return to avoid phasing issue due to parallel loop.
G has no Kill Dry.

A- putting the G all in the fx loop is pretty simple:
Guitar..>..Diezel preamp in
G instrument in..>..serial send
G out left..>..serial return

So,this setup is like G force or G major..simply but we have one big problem:
the filter and compression algorithms are between preamp and power amp,
not the better place to make sound a wha wha.To solve this problem appears
now the 4 cable method.
This way we split the G in half: filter, comp, loops preamp and time based effect
in the fx loop.

B- 4 cable method:
Guitar ..>..G instument in
G insert loop send..>..Diezel preamp in (using trs cable)
G insert loop return..>..serial send (using trs cable)
G out left..>..serial return (using trs cable)

Balanced or trs cables are used to avoid hum and ground loops but in Diezel amp brand
we don't need other hardware like isobox.(es ebtech hum eliminator).

In this setup we'll find an hearable amount of hiss (not hum) most of course on hi gain
channels..good..there is no way to geti rid off this hiss..this hiss comes from the first
A/D/ (the first dsp:filter,comp)..the same hiss (90%) we'll have if we put all the G preamp.
The ONLY solution to avoid this hiss is complex and not avaible on the market;it consists
in a true bypass pedal that on off position bypasses the first A/D.

2) How to set G-System global levels

Well, now we start playing but our sound seems not like a Diezel..now we focus about
global level settings the most important thing after cabling.
The aim is to reach the most similar tone that we can hear with our amp without the G.

-Input Gain: to set this parameter we make that: clean channel bridge pickup, then play
strong an open chord the red light (clipping) should light on only when we play with
full energy.Your pickup dc resistance here makes the rules: low dc=higher value, (for example
8-12) high dc lower value (for example 2-6)
-Loop Level: the best value i think is 2.With 0 we hit the preamp too strong with 4
not enough.
-Loop Headroom: the most commons values are between 4 and 6,please note the
loop level and headroom are inversed linked.
-Volume: set this to 0.
-Volume Position: follow the manual for this step.
-Output Level:the only whay to set this parameter is to play our amp without G,
then connect and listen to the volume..and go on whit this method untill the amp
volume alone is exactly teh amp volume + G.
We must take note of another problem: output volume is inversed linked to boost:
example: if i have a boost set to +4 and my output volume is setted to -5.
-Boost: making levels is better to set boost to 0 and then set the boosting db
that we want after all the previous steps. The more we boost the more we must
gain output level for a simply reason:in digital domain boost acts as an attenuator,
when engaged full sound is reached.

Only two things:
in utility menu set:
-insert loop lock to on
-boost lock to on

My personal setting with Jackson usa rr1 bare knucke pickup:
-Input Gain:+6
-loop level:2
-loop headroom:6
-volume:0
-volume position:input
-output volume:-5
-boost max:4

Awsome.... Thankyou so much for taking the time to write all that. I just got my first diezel (Herbert, which kicks serious ass). My next gear purchase is going to be a g-system. Ive read many a bad thing but also alot of great things. Most of what i heard is seems to be due to user error so i believe this thread could be very usefull.

Be prepared to see this thread pop up again soon as im sure ill have alot of questions.......... ;)

Cool, thanks for that. Got a G-System on the way, so that's a great help!

I have tried optional G setups. In the rack with 3' and 6' TRS cables and on the floor. I have had to use an Ebtech in both setups. It dose not eliminate hiss or hum but it dose decrease it considerably. The G-System I purchased was set up for Warren Fitzgerald, the guitar player for the Ca. band The Vandals, who was touring with Gwen Stafani in '08 The G-system is mounted to a ToneBone board and on the bottom side there is a voodoo power supply and the Ebtech. A stage snake with power cord, five cables and two amp switching cables. I assume the five are TRS. I use the 4 cable method with the Herbert and have been very pleased. All thanks to this manual by Laird Williams. Back to the floor setup.

Got our G-System last night, it's hooked up with the 4 cable method (mogami snake), although we have some noise so an isobox is on it's way, hopefully that will take the noise down to tolerable levels.

Not much time to play yet, sounded ok, but channel 3 was a little flat, had lost some of it's bite, we are assuming we need to play with the level to sort it out. Any pointers?

Edit: Just seen the addition, thanks bronz79 :)

Bronz 67,
Great post!
I just bought a Nova System and love it.
Since you live in Milan, have you played an XOX Audio Tools Handle? They are built there.
I have one and they are simply outstanding.
My wood guitars are like jelopies compared to it.

Sorry for the delay.
I've never tried them,if you want to know i can ask them who makes the carbonfiber
chassis. Many industries are operating in this sector here in Lombardia. :gethim:
..for bicycle chassis to race cars.. :D

p.s. you've made me older..i'm from 79. ;)
