Hi all,

today I managed to hook up my G-System =)
I am still not shure, if I should use it with the 4-cable-method, because I feel that in FRONT of the amp it takes away some of my favourite tone...
But my problem is a different one: My midi-changes sometimes work and sometimes dont. I programmed Herbert as usual (taped on the button, set and stored everything). But sometimes a switch to another button works, sometimes not. Could this problem be caused by my cable bundle in which the midi-cable is taped?

Thanks for your input.

I had the same problem when I used my Boss GT-3 as a controller. The two units are perhaps not 100% compatible. If no one knows how to help, contact Peter and I´m shure that he can help you :yes:
If you use your Herbert in omni mode you can try to set it to a fixed midi channel and then programm it like this:
midi channel 1 number 1 clean
midi channel 1 number 2 rhythm.
midi channel 1 number 3 rhythm with midcut...
and so on.
so you will have to programm you amp only one time and the rest of the programming you have to do with your G-system...
Another advantage is that you can control different units at the same time when you send on different midi channels. ;) Once you got it it´ll be a very comfortable way and you don´t have to store every setting on each unit many times. ;)

I tried to program it like this (this worked well before with my pod xt live):
tap button 1: set Herbert as I like, hit store twice,
tap button 2: set Herbert .... and so on

I there any other possibility?

I had the Herbert working flawlessly with the G-System. Have you looked at the PC midi mapping on the G-System?

I read through the white paper midi section, but that did not solve my problem. I set up a few settings, sth. like

- 00-1 -> Clean with master vol2
- 00-2 -> Rhythm with master vol1
...
- 00-5 -> lead with master vol2.

Then I can step on these buttons and my amp reacts to it, as it should. But not everytime. I switched back and forth between two buttons and it works 3 or 4 or 5 or ... times, then it does not work. On the next step on the other button it works again... It seems to me that the amp does not get every signal.

Is it possible you overlooked the insert loop on lock?

Even more confusion is created since, by default, the insert loop is a patch parameter, so even if you turn it on, the next time you switch to a patch that has it off, it will turn off again. ALL of the factory patches have the insert loop off (they have to). So unless you do something about it, every time you switch to a factory patch you will bypass your preamp. Not good.

It's page 39 and following of the G-system white paper.

Hope it helps!
