Which do you guys prefer, and why? How do they differ (tone wise), and how are they similar (tone wise).

I have a quad of each in identical cabs (VHT D412). The H30s have faster attack and more low end while having a sizzle (for lack of a better term) in the upper mids. The GBs have a little slower attack, but are very full sounding with exaggerated - almost syrupy mids. I prefer the sound of the GBs, but I wish they had the attack of the H30s.

I couldn't have said it better. I also prefer GB's. The H30's had a bite in the high frequency, that I couldn't dial out. But I much prefer the H30's to V30's.

And I couldn't agree more with you about H30s > V30s!

I'm probably going to buy an Avatar Vintage cab and am trying to decide which to get. I'm definately leaning towards the GB though.

I have Greenies in a 412 that I absolutely love. They don't have a lot of low end chunk, but you don't really notice that in a band setting for rock. G12H30s are in my 212, which stays at home. Not as much in the mids, but more lows and highs (relative to the greenies). Cool and different, but the greenbacks aren't going anywhere!

25s mic up alot better than 30s IMO, probably because of the mid content.

Yup, Ill also add that the H30's handle more bass.

They are both very vocal sounding and A good analogy is that the H30's have a ooooh sound and the greenbacks have aaaaahh sound. I love both speakers for different reasons.
