I see the topic of speakers has come up with all the talk of the G12K100. I'm curious about everyone's take on running the G12H30/V30 combo with a VH4. Currently I'm running a V30/V30 combo. I've tried the V30/G12T75 combo in the past and it wasn't for me. Even though the G12K100 might be an improved G12T75, I don't think it's the right direction for me to go.

Every time I hear a clip using the G12H30 compared to other speakers it's always my favorite. Anyone trying this speaker with a VH4 or other Diezel? I don't play loud usually so I'm hoping I can get away with a V30/G12H30 in a 212 cab.

Thanks for any comments.

Peter built me a one-off Diezel cab with a pair of G12H-30's, which I used with both a VH-4 and later, a Herbert, and now, an Einstein combo, as an extention cab.

They have a balanced and easily adaptable tone to any style. The Celestion website used to have tone comparisons so you might "google" that to see if it still is up.

I also like the Classic Lead 80 Celestions as they have a flat sound which does not have pronounced mids, treble, or bass, until you dial in the amp for what you desire.
While Diezel prefers V-30's, I would not choose it for my preference as they sound "spikey" to me and a bit brittle. I use a Weber cone deflector in my Diezel Einstein combo with the V-30 and it sounds better.

Mixing speakers correctly needs to be done after trying as many different combinations as you can find, possibly in a store, or by just knowing people that have these various combinations already, who are willing to allow you to listen to them with your amp and guitar.

i play my einstein with a marshall 4x 12 g12h30 and it sounds awesome, its been a present from an old friend , he bought it used for unbelievable 100 DMARK (about 50 euro). he said take it, its too vintage for me, he had in his cellar unused for 20 years.

im really glad that i have it because of financial problems as a student, no money to get me a 4 by 12 g12k100 ;)

it blew my mind away when i connected it to the diezel, it doesnt sound vintage if you dont want it to,i can make it sound very brutal and direct. on the other hand it makes a really nice and percussive and warm clean sound. perfect for the 70s stuff.....played it about 2 years with a marshall jmp 100 watt , my god i loved this amp......
awesome speaker, never gonna sell them.

Hey guys, I'm glad to hear there are some good results with this speaker. I really like its character from clips I've heard and apparently it's good with Marshall-ish amps (VH4 with EL34s seems to fit the bill). I appreciate the advice on mixing speakers. I did a trial-and-error run with a G12T75 and V30 and it didn't work out. V30/V30 was better, but is still a bit boxy/squawky. So I'm thinking to try throwing a G12H30 in with a V30 now.

Another question is has anyone tried the Heritage G12H version (55Hz resonant frequency)? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one of those.

I use a Mesa 4x12 with 2 of the 70th anniv. G12H30's X'd with 2 V30's with my Einstein 100, and it sounds killer! It's just huge and warm with a great blend. Of the two, I definitely prefer the G12H30's (massive low end), but the V30's blend in nicely. I would highly suggest this combo to anyone using a Diezel.
