g12k85 the same as k100's?

Ive searched around and some say they are the same speaker some say the k100 have better low end?? So i figued Id ask hear..I can always trust the info from my fellow Diezel owners ...I want to run a x pattern with these and vintage 30's in my mesa cab for the herbie

I thought it was G12 H100 that was what the K100 was based on albeit with more bottom end added?

k85's came in 80's marshall cabs

the k100's are supposedly the same speakers

Celestion told me they are the same speaker when I asked them. They told me they changed the name because many people were afraid to use them with a 100 watt combo or head & they could easily handle the 100 watts.

Most speakers can handle twice what they are rated at but live a much shorter life.

TBH, I'm not a huge fan of the K100/V30 combo with my Herbie, or the Hagen I used to own. Prefer to mix the V30s with a pair of T75s.

+1. I have a cab w/ the K100/V30 combo and I think it sounds like grand flatulence with the Herb.

The Herb sounds best with my Orange cab which is a combination of G12T75's and the stock Orange "special-design" speakers (pretty sure they're Celestions) made for Jim Root. It's surprisingly killer, imho.
