No pics, it's gross. I was screwing down some siding clips with a drill today and it slid off the clip and mashed my nose picker aka left index tip. Blood blister on the end and under the nail. I can hardly type right now.

It figures, I just soldered in the new BG Pickups in the Carvin after waiting 6 weeks. The best I can do is some crap Django knockoff with my other 3 fingers. Dammit.

Damn, that sucks.. It'll heal quicker than you think though.

this man would know

FWIW keep it clean. i would open it up and let the blood out of the blister - it will heal faster that way.

regardless you will be back in good shape either way.

dropped an 8in x 8in solid framing rock on my middle finger today. it feels wonderful that is for sure.

As dumb as this may sound, a guy at my old job used to swear by this and I saw him do it to himself a couple of times, I never had the balls to try it though. He would take a safety pin and heat the tip until it was red and poke it into the nail where the bloodblister was. After he did it a couple of times there would be a little hole in his nail and he said it instantly took 90% of the pain and pressure away. Ballsy move

this does work. i dropped a 45kg weight on my pinky and did this with a lighter. you have to get the needle red hot and then do a drilling motion.

it takes about 8 minutes to get through a nail depending on the pressure you push, but it helps - especially if it is throbbing badly. ballsy yes - but it will keep your finger nail from turning black underneath

Thanks for the home surgery suggestions, but I'll let it ride for now. I ding up my hands all the time, this one got me good, and just when I was hustling to get done so I could get home and play with the new toys. Initially they sound awesome, I need to tweak the height a bit but not much, killer pickups.

I used a 1/16 drill bit and twist it with my fingers. If its bad and you release the pressure it can cause you to go into shock. My Grandfather did this after dinner ( a 500 lb window smashed his thumb) 20 min later he went into shock and taken by an ambulance to the hospital. He was 52, now 91 still building things and playing in the garden

I stuck a philips bit through my left thumb many years ago(16) with a screw gun, right between the joint, havent been able to use my thumb over the neck on the E string since.

i about cut my right index finger off with a knife.

was young, about 15-16 stripping thick speaker wire being in a hurry and the knife slipped off, went right into my knuckle/finger area. i could see the cartledge that had been cut and the bone of the top finger. i now have a scar that goes from top to bottom on the left side of that finger as a nice reminder. its why it was somewhat hard to learn all of these years how to hold a pic properly.

i have also stuck a flaked grantie rock right through the center of my palm and it broke off in the right hand. had to dig it out at the hospital. that one really didnt hurt as bad as this:

i was also sanding wood once by hand without a sanding block, and a sharp piece of wood was sticking up ever so slightly that i didnt see, and it pierced right into the center of the tip of my right finger and broke off DEEP into it, about half an inch. i had to let it heal before i could pull it out. THAT one hurt like a mother fucker.

i have also broken my right wrist so bad that i had to have the growth plate moved back into position - this was a while ago.

i have many more, but the sanding one was the worst. sanding along, and all of a sudden it went into the tip of my finger. i have a scar for that one too.

Don't feel bad Bro...

Tony Iommi Cut off all his finger tips with a Metal Shearing Machine!

It didn't stop him!

RR

I know it is frustrating but don't accelerate the healing time..let the scar heal. ;)

OUCH!!!!! Im a carpenter/General Contrator for the last .........wow working with my Grandfather about 28 yrs. Always worried/Thoughtful about injuries and try taking my time. Smashing fingers Sucks! and cuts.

Oh, the stories I have ( did concrete for awhile)

Well, I'll tell you my dad's first he did decorative concrete (Cool stuff actually. most of this is before he was doing decorative though) he was measuring out this form for the concrete and the tape reel broke and came flying back at him, he had his thumb on the tape, it cut all the way to the bone. there was blood every where. it just was not cool. 8 stitches iirc

he also did block laying for awhile and he was taking these 40lb blocks 2 and 3 at a time out of the back of a pickup. well. I don't even remember what happened but one of the blocks fell on his pinky, and just crushed it. he had another 8 iirc for that

so many more. he was pounding on a form one time and drove a sheetrock screw into the side meat of his hand.

I've put nails through me feet, smashed my fingers up with hammers.

Lord, I hate manual labor. thank the lord for touring

Both times I fucked my hands up were the same French Door same window in it and two different arguements with two different chicks..Bitches :gethim:

i dropped a bowling ball on my pinky when i was a kid and smashed it completely to a nub. this screwed my hand and wrist up too cause my hand was still growing and made it grow in a way my hand and fist want to clench up in a fist all the time which dosent bother me when im doing anything but playing guitar. i can barely use my pinky to do anything but tap and i have to play dropped tunings most of the time cause my hand locks up. id say i have less than 50% movement in my ring and pinky compared to my right hand. one of these days i want to have surgery

nah this is my left fretting hand. my right arm from bowling though is about twice as big as my left so i use that for the jerkin off too much line

I can vouch for the tiny drill bit pressure relief method, my daughter got her finger smashed, and in no time it was huge! we got a tiny drill bit and used my fingers to twist it and sure enough, that stuff shot up and hit the ceiling   She instantly sighed and said it was MUCH better
She was 7, by the way
DO IT, and report back
Sorry man, I know that had to hurt big time :aww:
