But what great playing and tone to die for! Funny thing i remember Yngwie commented on Moore saying he was a great player but such an ugly SOB! Well, i doubt Yngwie ever got asked to be on the cover of GQ.

What a killer video!

OT: Daniel, I listened to your IIC+ & LP Custom clips earlier today because I'm gassing for a LPC and wanted to check some fat LPC tones. Damn how sick playing and tone you have in those clips! Killer!!!! Do you have stock pups in your LPCs?

Right now i don't have any LP's. I traded the one i had a while ago. I have a Wayne Strathead and an Yngwie Strat. I like these 2 guitars and i would love to add an LP, that's really all i need. The Strat does the Strat thing, the Wayne has a FLoyd and does the shred thing, an LP would round out things nice. I always used the stock pickups. FWIW, i think a Black LP Custom is the best looking guitar, ever.

Yes, that's why I'm gassing for a LPC over an YJM strat. I want an alpine white LPC because all the details can be seen better on it and after I'll put in black hardware on it, it'll look even better. Daniel, wasn't it you who had like 2-3 LPCs a while back? I think it was you who posted a thread at HCAF after buying a brand new alpine white Les Paul Custom about a year ago. My memory could be playing games with me though...

people are always quick to praise Lynch, Dimartini, etc.

but a guy like Gary Moore is on a whole different level..

and he is very ugly

GM is consistantly in the same leage as Warren Haynes tonewise IMO

Hey, I love his playing, but does he ever have a good hair day?

  that was my first thought, when I read the thread title.

For those of you who think a Soldano SLO is a one trick 80's metal pony, this vid should tell you it's not. Great smooth blues tone.

Yup......and they both use SLO's....go figure... :D

Actually, the first thing that I thought is that it sounds like he's playing blues with an 80's metal tone. I hate GM's tone. Which bugs me because I like his playing and tunes. But when he goes all gainy like this, it ruins it for me. Nothing against SLO's either, because I love WH's SLO tone. His tone is a lot fatter and less fizzy/buzzy than GM to me.

Just IMO of course....and I know I'm in the minority on this one...

Gary Moore's a great player, but that tone wasn't special to me. And I haven't seen Warren haynes with a SLO in many years, he's always been playing his Diaz when I've seen him.

I liked Gary's version of that tune, but I prefer the original (although I'm not a big fan of Roy's tone either). Unfortunately, YouTube pulled the best version from Austin City Limits but I found this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On5372UztI0
