Gassing for a relic Les Paul

I’m amazed at what 58-60 reissues go for nowadays! Kind of hoped for more deals in this Covid market. Is it me or are they overpriced?

They definitely aren’t getting any cheaper. I bought my ‘14 R0 new for $3800

Overpriced ? People still buying them so it looks price is right. But also prices go up last few (5 or so) years aprox. 30% and it is more significant with pricier gear.
Biggest issue with reissue (haha) is if You play really good one, there is no chance to get it with regular US production (unless You are very very lucky).

Very true. Once you try the fine wine is hard to go back to Boones Farm
 
Well, IMO compared to some handbuilt guitars they are overpriced. But like you stated things are worth what someone is willing to pay.
 
I've had many, many Historics and Collector's Choice models over the years...here's my two cents. They tend to be fabulous Les Pauls, I've never had a bad one. I also think despite the never-ending market demand for them, they are terribly overpriced for what you really get. I think the current 50's/60's series Gibson Standards give you a ton of the tone and feel for a much lower price, but the tops don't tend to be as nice. Some dealers like Wildwood have gotten versions with nicer tops for a modest increase in price, I think those are a great overall value.

I still have my favorite R9 of all time, a True Historic Murphy aged with ThroBak pickups in the picture below. But I'm also happy jamming on some particularly good Epiphones I have, so I don't agree at all that you need to pay Historic prices to get a great Les Paul.
