Hello! I decided to try to record my VH4 growl  Listen to what was obtained! I am very interested in your opinion

Could be my headphones but sounded like a can of bees to me, very tin like sound and no warmth at all. Cool riff but the tone was not my thing at all.

Yes, on some headphones, I heard something similar, although in other completely different sound! I think to try without headphones

May also be my crappy headphones at work, but it sounded too harsh/trebly/scratchy at least for my taste. Just my humble opinion.

Greetz,
kickapoo

да, на одних наушниках я услышал что то похожее, хотя в других совсем другой звук ! думаю стоит попробовать без наушников

I tried with 3 studio headphones all different brands and studio monitors. Pretty much same results, very tin like and brittle sounding. Dig the riffs but the tone did nothing for me personally. I like a heavy tone, but with warmth and more smooth sounding for my personal tastes, probably a bit of a darker tone. I think that is why I like Andy Woods tone so much as it is smooth and pleasing.... YMMV

Sounds very agressive, which is good :)
I think it really depends on the context, something warm and "nice" on it's own could easily get buried in the mix, and if you took some of your favourite recorded guitar tones and listen to them separately you would probably think that many of them are a bit harsh or brittle.

That being said, I coud really imagine how a tone like that could work great in an agressive track

clipping anyone?

it sounds like your guitar tuned low with too thin strings

maybe you just tweak around the position of the mic a bit?

greets

Yes, I'm afraid I made a little clipping :( I think to try other provisions of the microphone to make less hard sound

I agree completely with this. I still like warm and nice tones even in a band mix. I think Andy Wood sums it up best by saying he likes Dark Tones. I do as well. That being said they have to mixed properly to come through in a recording and band mix and this can be done.

The OP asked about that clip in the context of the clip itself. There was a lot of clipping, and tin type swarm of bees sound to me. One might call it aggressive I guess, but I have heard a lot of aggressive tones I like and that was not one of them.

I am not saying any of this to hurt feelings, as the OP put his clip out there and I assumed he wanted true opinions so he could evaluate and decide for himself if he agrees or not, and modify things based on input. I think the more honest opinions one gets the better. In the context of a full aggressive track it would be cool to hear this put into, because as you say it may sound great.

i dont agree with most of the previous replies.
I think the sound you recorded with a little treble out, a big base and the devil for drummer,
will sound very nice, big and aggressive. the guitars here sound almost like a chainsaw.
i like it. can be better, but i like it.
