Ever since I've heard folks talking up the GE-10 I've been interested in trying one. Two things I am wary of: the regular nema plug for power and whether these vintage units are vulnerable to electronics degradation or general reliability issues. Any recommendations for modern EQs or is it worth to go with the old boss?

Getchyou one of those Puppet Master eq's
Semi parametric and very powerful

Still pleased with my Source Audio EQ2; I like having the presets; and the level is +/- 18 dB to push the input end of an amp. You can also move the 10-bands to any frequency point from 20 to 20k Hz, and you can narrow or widen each band. Also has a noise gate and limiter

Also got the Ibanez Pentatone 5-band EQ, but the level only does +/- 6 dB, which is weak; but having access to all the controls on the pedal make it much easier to use than the EQ2

I love the GE-10. I have a few and have never has issues with them. I also like the old blue MXR 10 band EQ. They have such a nice sound to them.
Were those custom Mesa EQs worth the mega coin??

I’ve used a Whirlwind 10 band for years. It’s expensive but there’s a tight Q on each band. The Mesa 5band is amazing if you can find one these days. Also the Source Audio EQ2 is really flexible. As long as there’s a low noise floor just about any are going to be good to be honest.

You recently snagged that Analogman modded one right? How's it working out?

From Robb R. via Reverb comments: "Recommend 470uF/50V electrolytic on ALL of these vintage pedals be replaced as 40-50 years of life on them." What does that mean? Thoughts?

After learning a bit about the circuit, I’m not sure the AM mod is correct. I copied the voltage mod into another pedal and it wouldn’t work. I’m in the process’s of having small voltage boards made to supply the correct 15 volts off of a 9volt supply. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
