hey guys,

I have a Splawn 412 ion the way with no speakers.

What speakers do you guys think would be bast for my amps, my music and considering the cabs I already have!?

Music - classic rock to 80s and 90s rock, hard rock and grunge, some heavy metal and some alternative rock.

Amps are Bogner Shiva, PWE Event Horizon and BFG modded Mesa Dual Rectifier. Bogner 212 with V30s, Stone Age 212 with Celestion Creamback ans Lynchback.

Possible suggestions for Splawn 412 - Celestion Greenback reissues, Heritage Greenbacks, EVH Greenbacks or Splawn Small Block 25s.

I am worried about the Bogner because they love V30s. How are Bogner Shivas with Greenbacks? Since the 412 will be use with all my amps, I could mix V30s and Greenbacks or Creambacks or G12-65s, LOL. Help!

THANKS!

Hello?

For the 412 I am thinking V30/T75 or either Heritage Greenies or Standard Reissue Greenies.

W G12-65? Aren't they very dark?

I don't want to spend a lot of money so I am thinking this:
WGS Reaper/Green Beret
Celestion Heritage Green Backs
Celestion Green Backs/G30s

Thanks dude, I have a Bogner Shiva, PWE Event Horizon and Splawn Street Rod on the way. rock, hard rock and alt rock. I will try Greenbacks first. If that fails, I will do V30s mixed with either G12-65 or Creambacks. :)

Richie, are you carrying on a conversation with yourself in this thread?

Yes. :)

Seriously, a guy responded and we were going back and forth about G12-65s but then he was kicked off the forum today along with his posts so now all you see are my posts in this thread. LOL

:hys:

Man, i felt bad for ya reading this thread richedie... Sorry Braddah. While everyone's flocking to the 'deal gone bad' thread to air their rank nutsacks, here you are asking questions to the empty air. Not to mention, the psycho babble had me howling....hello me, welcome to the new me (taken from a lame Mustaine endorsed guitar rag ad).

ANYWAY...

For all those amps you have? Quite honestly, here's my take:
For heavier music and music that's played at SOLID volumes ALL the time, 75/30, just like the UberKab
For a range of great music in a live/gigging/jamming setting, V30s will do the trick
For great bass and control, G12K/V30
I'm not a fan of the 65s unless they're specifically married to the right amp and the right music.

I wish I knew more about the creambacks (no jokes please, what a horrible fkn name for a speaker!!)

This is all I've got.

Please don't lose your shit - we'll get through this - you'll be alright... :salute:

Mojo :rawk:

Thanks bro, 75/30 is on my list but I think the V30s would dominate!
Right now I have Lynchbacks so will give them a go. They may mix well with V30s.
Lynchbacks have shallow, tight lows, smooth, articulate highs, and neutral highs.
We live live in a condo on the third floor so I carry this cab myself up n down, LOL....so I think
all Lynchbacks could be good, and light!
Thanks dude.

One thing I have to say is whenever mix-matching speakers, personally, it's less about the wattages, and ALL about the sensitivity-matching. You got V30s coming in at 100dB, you wanna match those with something similar. Otherwise the opposing driver (the one of lesser sensitivity) really does get buried in the mix.

That is what I thougts but celestion told me that is not true. For example t75s and v30s mix well!

Yes they do, but this is because they've got a yin-yang frequency marriage... They complement one another nicely based on frequency, but not necessarily sensitivity. I suppose the rule would be more likely applicable to combinations we've not yet heard or established as good yet. You know, like Eminence and Creambacks, or, Jensen and Alnico Golds, or something along those lines. In that new territory, I'd be more cautious of sensitivities... But ya, Bogner puts out their 75/30 UberKab and we all assume and have experiencing knowing that's a sweet set up. Other cats here have gone 100/30 and it works too.

Bogner told me to stay away from light magnet speakers, 35 oz speakers like Greenbacks or 75s, because they said they lack the balls and low end of heavier magnets.
