Getting a *new* HUM on my M4 after a few months of use

So I have had my M4 for a few months. I pair it with a Mesa Boogie 20/20 and a TC G-System and also use a monster pro900 power conditioner and a EB Tech Hum Eliminator in the mix.

I am now getting a hum out of the preamp that was not there before. I've taken the G-System and EB Tech out of the chain and am going straight into my preamp, out into the power amp, out into the cab (rebel 112x) and the hum persists. The EB tech will not squash it either and it sound exactly the same whether or not it is in the mix. Is sounds the same if the G-System is in the mix as well, but for the purposes of trouble shooting I took them out. Can't shake the hum!

Also note...If I flip the the bright switch on the T/D or VX mods from 0 to 2 the hum gets significantly louder but stays the same on the BMAN and COD.

I played the this combo for a couple weeks before I put the G-system in the loop to make sure I was happy with the tone and had no Hum during that time. Once I hooked up the G-system I had all kinds of problems which I solved via a hum eliminator and noise gate. All was good for about two months and now there's a new hum and I cant seem to shake it. Although I can adjust the noise gate to squash the new hum it is so bad that it is clearly audible while playing...which is no good!

My rig is plugged into a new outlet, dedicated line that runs straight to my electrical box and is the same place I've always plugged it into. There are no lights or anything that share that line/circuit in the breaker box.

Should I contact Egnater and ship this back for them to look at or am I missing something obvious? I use the rig live every week and would hate to have to ship it back!

Thanks!

Does this happen with all the modules? Have you tried taking individual modules out of the M4 to see if that makes a difference?
Have you flipped the ground lift switch on the back of the M4?

Could also be power influence. Any circuit connected to your circuit panel can cause noise on your particular outlet. Dimmers and appliances for sure.

Please plug the output of the preamp directly into the power amp. No effects, nothin' else.
1) Does it still hum?
2) does the ground lift switch on the M4 fix it?
3) If not, does the hum go away when you turn the main master down on the M4 with the module masters turned up?
4) If not, does it go away when you turn the module masters down?

email at bruce@egnater.com to discuss further please....

Check the tubes on the M4. I sometimes notice a slight hum when they die.

Could they die after just three months?

1) Yes
2) Ground lift is currently in the lift position, hun is much louder and deeper in tone in the normal position
3) Yes - it goes away when I turn the main master down and leave the module master up
4) Yes - it goes away when I turn the module master down and leave the main up

Will email to discuss further

ps. LOVE THE M4...your modules are still the single greatest thing to happen to guitar amplification ever

FYI - it does happen on all the modules but some are louder or quieter than others...each one is different

I have the ground lifted, it is worse in the normal mode

If the power influence were true wouldn't it be constant?

I just had a Tung Sol die after about 2 hours worth of use and it came from a very solid online source.

I had more than one new JJ Ecc803 die after an hour in my old triaxis.

They were from a reputable dealer, also.

I had an online discussion on HRI and got confirmation that not only was I having a lot of issues with JJ and Tung Sol tubes but so were other guys. So it's totally possible that you have a tube or tubes going bad. All you need to check is at least one good preamp tubes and switch it with ever tube in your preamp one at a time.

I have quite a few different sovtek 12ax7's around here and none of them ever go bad. But I don't like the sound of them either. Buying select Shuguang tubes from TAD , ARS, etc is usually the way to go for decent new production preamp tubes. What you are paying for is the the time it takes for those companies to sort nad grade the tubes even though they all come from the same Chinese manufacturer.
