I must decide between these two brands of string - which I should pick ?
Oh , I almost forget - only 10-52 gauge.

And also please describe yours experience if you used any of them.

GHS Boomers, only strings I used since about 83 or so

I like DRs the best out of all mainstream brands. I haven't yet tried Rotosounds but heard good things about them as well.

DR Strings, Tite-Fit 10-52s played daily. I love them!

I really like most main string brands... Dr, EB, Fender, Gibson, GHS... they are all good. But when I buy strings, I tend to prefer GHS Boomers, since they do last a bit longer on my guitars, and since I have a lot of guitars, I do tend to prefer long lasting, not 5x more expensive strings.
So, my vote, GHS... if Boomers.

Thank you for all responses ;)

But both are vacuum - packed ?

I remember that recently ( about 2 years ago) when I bought DR's tite fit - not vacuum packed , with sweet rusty on treble strings ...
But that was so long ago , that they can change it.

They aren't vacuum packed. I've bought a lot of DR sets and never encountered any rusty strings. That's strange.

What about GHS ?

I've used them. Not my favourite. Don't like D'Addarios either. I think the DRs sound the liveliest out of all of them, without being brittle at all. They also feel better to me. Ernie Balls would be a close second, but they die too quickly if I remember correctly - not that the DRs are super long lasting or anything... The sound is worth it IMO. :)

Thanks.
GHS , DR , EB , D'addario - which are the most dark sounding ? Cause I searching for bit darker sound - friend recomended me GHS or DR.

I haven't used other brands for a while, but DRs never really sounded very bright/piercing to me.

There's other things you can do to tame a bright sounding guitar. Going to thicker picks, heavier string gauges (although I wouldn't recommend this), changing your pickups or switching to 300k pots, etc.

No , my guitar is all mahogany so I don't have overbright guitar.
But thanks. Although I discovered that probably D'addario are a bit more brighter than others - especially new.

But - unfortunately I can't make a A/B test, so that is the reason why I'm asking :D

I have found the DR Blues to be really warm sounding, but the GHS Boomers last longer, I used DR for quite a while and had quite a few sets unravel in some wierd places (middle of the board, diff guitars) and drew blood a few times, I know, I know, its not rock until your fingers are bleeding but that was enough for me, back to GHS and Gibson vintage for me, now thats what I found anyway.

Thank you all ;)

Please ask me here :
What gauge would you recomend me for drop C or C# ? For 25.5 scale.
I would prefer heavier gauge cause I hit strings like a madman.

I started using the DR Tite-Fit (10-46) strings several years ago after trying most of the major brands. At least for me I have found that they last longer. No problems at all.

I'd go with 12s. You'll have to do adjust the neck relief, action and intonation though.

Are you sure that 12 will be ok in Drop C ?
And of course I know that i will must adjust relief etc when changing strings but thanks for remember me that - that's nice from you.

My only concerns is that my neck won't carry that so much tension ... and ... booom

DR for me all the way! Out of everything I've ever tried the string not only resonated perfectly through my rig but it had the best feel due to the all nickel winding. Only problem with that is that the strings tend to die out rather quickly. GHS on the other hand was okay for rhythm playing but if you use a lot of midrange, they became very tingy when playing lead lines.

Traditional Jazz players often use 12 gauge sets in standard tuning :D

You could go with an 11 set as well. The low C might be a little loose though. There might be some specific light top/heavy bottom sets for that. I'm not into drop tuning, so I can't really recommend you specific sets for that :)
