gibson 57classic+ versus duncan 59?which do you like better

how does a gibson 57 classic+ sound versus a seymour duncan 59?

Stan my friend, I thought you were done messing with the formula? It was all about the Voodoo '59, your Metro Plexi and hitting the woodshed. You are a sick, sick man. Just like the rest of us. :D
 
yeah,i know im sick.dave friedman talked me in to trying the gibson.please get me some help,lol
 
I like the SD-59 more, by quite a bit.

More clarity, just "more" of everything...the Classic+ has a bit of a mid-hump to it though - very slight.
 
The 57 classic has a bloom to it which the 59 lacks. The new SD59s sound like a bland, sterile paf style pickup to me, don't like them at all. The 57+ is a cool vintage sounding paf copy with a bump in output and some extra mids, fat and clear. The 57 classic series kind of remind me of tom holmes' pickups.

Interesting...I feel the 57 Classics are OK, but not better than the 59's. Then again, I'm comparing what I have now (uncovered) to what I had then (covered) - but, I've also had covered 59's, and I still thought they sounded better.

the 57CL/CL+ both sounded a bit muddy to me...
 
well ihave a voodoo 59 that im using now.before that i had the tom holmes 455,it was a nice pickup,but i liked the voodoo better.hopefully the gibson will be here by moday so i can give her a try.does it have more upper mid boost or lower mid boost to it?
 
I definitely like the 57 classic better than the duncan '59 fwiw.
 
I much prefer a 57 classic to a SD59. Better balance overall. I find the 59 to be too bass heavy with not enough of that great PAF KERAAAANG! I do much prefer the regular 57 Classic over the +. I find the mid hump in the + is a little "boxy". The overall output difference is negligable. It's more of an EQ difference.
 
I prefer the Classic over the 59 too, but I prefer the Voodoo over either of them.
