I am hoping we have a few on the forum that own one or more of these semi-hollows. I am GASing for an ES-339. I have seen reports of poor upper fret access and that the ES-339 is neck heavy. What do you owners or former owners think of your ES-339, CS-336, or CS-356?

My singer at church uses a 339 all the time. Sounds good and plays good.

It was tough to get it in tune at first, but he had a few techs go over it and now it's there.

Once it a while it has suspect tuning on the G string like most Gibsons. ;)

friend of mine just got a new ES-339 and it plays extremely well. Its plek'd so it literally feels perfect. Which is kinda strange. Sounds like sex into his Route 66. If I didn't need a LP I would buy one for myself.

I didn't notice it being neck heavy at all. In fact it felt really balanced to me. The whole instrument is really light!

All I know is I would love, love, love to have CS-356...

A guy selling one on TGP said his was in the 7lb range. That sounds great considering my les pauls are 9.8 and 10.1lbs respectively.
The TGP seller decided to keep it for now.

I have a 339 and absolutely love it! It's completely stock. It sounds warm yet cuts and it has sustain for days. But, the coolest thing about it is the vibe. It has so much character and is so cool to play. I smile every time I pick it up.

I have around 15 guitars and I'd like to sell a few. The 339 isn't going anywhere. :D

That's great news that you love it and bad news that its not for sale. ;)
