Hi guys. Just got my first DIEZEL - a lovely Einstein 100w head. I'll be gigging it for the first time in West London this Friday - running it through a GenzBenz G-Flex 2x12 cab. It's replaced one of my MESA Dual Rectos which had a good rhythm sound, but leads were not so good. Anyway, has anyone got any tips on getting a good sound out of the Einstein at gig volume (i.e. LOUD!). I've not had a chance to really crank it up so I'm going in a bit blind, but I'm confident it'll sound great! I'm really after a fat 80's metal rhythm sound and Zakk Wylde-type lead. Cheers!

No suggestions anybody? I'll just put everything (except master volumes!) at 12 o'clock and tweak it from there then...

That is really the best thing to do Mike. Depending on the room and volume you are playing at and which guitar you are using, you will not need to go too far in either direction.

I use an Einstein with a 2x12 and play a Gibson CS 356 with '57 PAF's. I set my bass at about 10 o'clock, mids at about 10-11 o'clock, treble at about 1 o'clock, deep at 12 o'clock and presence at 2 o'clock to bring out in the guitar what I want. These settings are pretty close for both channels.

Then I use the guitar's tone and volume controls to fine tune from there for different songs.

Use the second master volume for setting your boosted volumes and the first master volume for all other volumes.

I use the first master volume up just enough to allow myself to set up the channel volume and gain as I like it, then just crank up master volume one to the room level and master volume 2 for boosting from there.

Hope you have a great gig and enjoy your new Einstein.

OK, I'm gonna give this a shot,

Channel 1: Texas mode, gain between 3:00 and dimed,(dependeing on the song), then I go noon on channel volume, 3:00 treble, 11:00 mids, 2:00 bass, 1:00 presence, 2:00 depth, master 1 at 8-9:00 depending on room size, and master 2 just slightly louder than master 1, for a suddle boost to improve dynamics in certain parts of the songs. I also find (on my Einstein at least), that Master 2 has a slight tonal change from master 1, in a more open sounding way. I really like this, as it offers another tone to work with. With volumes set evenly, it almost is like having a third channel. Then I set channel 2 very much the same as channel 1, but I back down the gain to 11:00, and raise the channel volume to 2:00 This gives me a great boosted lead sound. Sometimes I will step on both footswitches for a lead, and I get the same tonal changes as I described earlier, but with the monsterous tone of channel 2 pushing it.

Let me say that I'm playing old Gibson's with '59's and PAF's, and they are dark sounding by nature, so the kind of guitar or should I say the brightness of your guitar will cause you to have to tweak the setting a bit for your likeness.

Hope any of this helped, and congrats on your Einstein! You will love this amp! It's definately a keeper! :2thumbsup:

Thanks for the info guys! Gig last night was great - the Einstein ruled. Used Channel 1 mode 2 for the Who, AC/DC stuff and mode 3 for Metallica. Sounded awesome. Got lots of compliments on the tone I was getting. Vast improvement on my old MESA Dual Recto.
