My girl with attending a seminar in Hannover in Aug. for a whole week, I'm meeting her at the end of that week for a 5 day tour in Germany. We plan to go to Berlin obviously, and we need to toss between Munich and Hamburg. She's had lots of nice references from people that have been to Hamburg, but I want a German opinion on this.

She's an Landscape Architect, so we love to visit places with rich architecture. I love museums too.

Anyways, my questions are:

I'll meet her at Hannover and we'll go that same day to Berlin for a 2 or 3 days stay, then off to Munic, or Hamburg, depending on which one you guys recommend me more.

1) If I arrive at Hannover early in the morning and meet with my girl, an we take a train to Berlin and arrive "early"? I've read the trip from Hannover to Berlin is like 1:30 hours.

2) Munic or Hamburg?

3) How many days at each place? we have 5 days, the 5th day we need to get back to Hannover to catch the flight back to Barcelona. We'll try to book a flight pass 6:00p.m. so we don't rush.

4) Can someone recommend me a nice "hotel" searcher in Germany. I'll need to book two hotels, one in Berlin and the other on in either Munic or Hamburg depending where we stay.

5) Is there a way we can visit a place for one day and be back? For example two places that are close

Hamburg is closer to Hannover, I'd still prefer München. With the ICE (train grande vittesse - high speed train) its a pleasure to travel nowadays . . . 2 days Berlin, 2 days München would be my choice.

Like Olaf said. Munich all the way.

As for hotels: hrs.de - on the top right hand side there's a language thingy.

hamburg is IMO more exciting in architecture than munich...depends on what ur wife wants to see...

We went to Berlin to see Slipknot. Awesome fucking town and great people too. Stayed at the Radisson in the Garden district (or something...garten), walking distance to the wall, Check Point Charlie museum and all the hotspots. Met up with the band's road crew at Kilkenney's pub up the street (every city has an Irish pub) and got absolutely obliterated.

"Tiergarten" - the "old" (western) center of Berlin.

thanks guys, well I've always wanted to go to Munich/Berlin....so I'll push for Munich.

Btw, what are the MUST GO TO places in Munich and Berlin?

depends what you are after....
give us a hint what you and your girl like....

munich fur sure "Hofbräuhaus" and the "Deutsches Museum"

first of all we love architecture.

Then I like museums, interesting museums, like Museum of natural science, or science in general. I'm a sucker for "famous cultural emblems" Like Eiffel Tower, Empire State, the cool "IAMSTERDAM", Coliseum, etc.

and last but not least, and I know it goes in the architecture side, HUGE buildings. I've always been drawn to tall buildings/towers. hehehe

Of course a rich cultural place too (cool coffee shops, important parts of town, etc...

the most famous is the "Hofbräuhaus". There you can get your small beer ;) or your Maß ;)

you can even eat there - not cheap, but this belongs to visiting munich like the "eifelturm" when you visit paris ;)

When you are in Munich go to "Augustiner Biergarten". There you'll get the (imo) best beer ever created on this planet.

Also make sure you visit "Viktualienmarkt". Deutsches Museum is also great as well as the Olympic Tower (nice view).

.......and speaking of German brew - me and my Irish bride are planning to hit Oktoberfest this year. Looking way forward to that.
