Gold Lion KT88s & 6550s ie... TJ

I've been searching the forum and haven't found any post from any members actually sticking a set of GL KT88s into a Twin Jet.

-Has anybody actually thrown an set of GLs in?
- How did they respond?

- 6550s, as far as bottom end wrt tightness, how much looser are they to KT88s?

I've got a 292 paired with a fish that's not going anywhere, but still wanting a head. Prematurely sold my TJ to get the fish and always wondering about these tube configs.

The GL 88's were an improvement over stock. The real deal is with the Gold Lion KT77's. Nothing better in this amp. I have not tried 6550's. I just prefer the 77's.

I would love to know how the 6550's are in the TJ. I modified mine for EL34's and liked that a great deal above the 88's. Gary has been the KT77 fan for a while. If I get the chance to get another TJ I will try EL34's, KT77s and 6550s to make a final decision. The TJ is an amazing amp as it is not just for uber heavy music, it covers some definite sonic territory.
