I live in Europe and I'll be going on a trip to California in a week. One of the things on my To Do list is getting an electric guitar, which means I want to try out a bunch of different guitars and see which one feels best for me. But unfortunately, I won't have a lot of free time for that, so it would help getting some info in advance.
Could you guys please recommend me some good guitar shop in Los Angeles? By good I mean shops that have a big choice of guitars in the range of 1200-2000 USD in stock. A good used guitar section is also a nice thing to look at.

Also, I really want to check G&L Invader out. Could you recommend me a shop (again, in LA) that is really likely to have a bunch of invaders in stock? I know there is a list of dealers on G&L website, but experience tells me that dealers don't always have everything in stock and there are shops that aren't in the dealers list that have even more stuff.

If you want a G&L you should order one in advance then go pick it up.
You want to hit Mesa Boogie Hollywood on Sunset as well - tons of Suhrs, Andersons, Nash, etc...

I can't order it withouth trying and seeing whether I like the feel of the neck.
So there's no other way to get a G&L?

True Tone in Santa Monica has a huge selection

Brother its LA, that's how it is, they all think they are rock stars. If you want selection keep your head Down and serve yourself. ;-)

I had a good experience at true tone. Wasn't trying guitars though, just pedals. So much to lust after there.

Mesa has the best guys though.

If you head up the freeway to sherman oaks, Amp Shop/Bass Exchange is pretty cool too.
