All I can say is WOW, what a transformation! If you've not played a Runt, it's kinda light in the gain, and low end, (but, like any JCM800 type circuit, the bass fills in with obscene levels of volume). Though boosting it gets it where I want, as does an EQ in the loop, with lower output pickups in my SG, this is a game-changer. With the added tube gain stage and bass boost function, I can add some bass in addition to gain, allowing me to dial back the gain to zero on my boost, and eliminate the EQ in the loop! Even with both switches down, it thickens up the tone, and adds some sweet harmonics and fatter lead tones, as well as chunk to heavy rhythms.

It's now a fire-breathing "modded" Runt 50, and all I could ask for. For $227, it's an absolute no-brainer, and worth it's weight in gold. I may try a USA GE JAN 5751 in place of the JJ ECC81 in the Hot Mod though, just to experiment. I leave the Hot Mod at the lowest gain setting, (switch down), anyway.

Like I said, a game-changer, for sure. Couldn't be happier with it!

Agreed. It really does push the Runt into thick, high gain without pedals needed. Works great, IMO

Funny.. I went through my Wylde OD, GT-OD, Custom Badass, Fortin TS9, and an SD-1. The SD-1 was the clear winner! It sounds absolutely punishing!

Congratulations man. I'm going to get one of those or the Lynch version eventually for the tone tool box.

I had a similar experience with my Marshall SV20H. I have the Lynch Mod V2 with the bass switch on and Lynch Mod gain at 1:00, which is really nice. I've found, tho, that anything higher and it gets too fuzzy and compressed.

Curious as to where you have the V2 gain set at?

There's no gain control, just a switch.
