My loaded M4 arrived today. It was on the front porch when I got home from a business trip.
It was completely cold-soaked from being in the mid-30-degree air so I let it warm to room temp for a couple of hours before firing it up.
I have a dual Deluxe module along with a VX, SL2X, and COD.
What a nice surprise! I played around with my Telecaster (American Deluxe Ash) and my late-model dual-pickup Melody Maker for a couple of hours. I am instantly in love with the dual Deluxe and the VX. I'd describe the VX as magical, it's so sweet and touch-sensitive, and I can say that Egnater gets it right as I have a Vox AC30CC2X sitting right next to the Egnater rig. The Dual Deluxe is just what it should be - Fender-y, and anything from painfully clean with very forward high-mids and highs (and a surprisingly substantial bottom end presence), to sizzlin', nasty 'ol grit. Very, very cool.
I'm still coming to terms with the SL2X and COD because I have never played through either a Super Lead or the Mesa/Dumble amps so I'm learning them. First impressions are that the SL2X can get surprisingly clean on the A channel and as you all know it can get very high gain as well on either channel. Threre is enough gain there to let even the low-output Telecaster pickups howl. The COD was a bit of a surprise with its midrange emphasis which makes for a rather uninspiring tone at low gain, but with some gain thrown in either channel it rocks very nicely and has a lot of presence.
I'm looking forward to running the other guitars through the rig, particularly the guitars with P-90s and humbuckers.
Kudos to Bruce, Jeff, and everyone else at Egnater!
Life is good!
