Got my next few projects lined up

Now that the craziness of the holiday season has passed, I've just made a couple of purchases that have lined up my next few projects.

Getting back to a postponed project, first up is completing my Matamp GT120 clone build. I purchased the Hillbish PCB, chassis, and components a while back. I also populated most of the PCB. I got stuck for a while because I decided to use a different transformer set than what I originally purchased. I bought the transformers I want to use earlier this week. Once those arrive I can get back to that build.

After that is going to be a few mods to a Marshall Vintage Modern 2466. I just ordered one from guitar center for a fair price. I want to do Jason Tong's improvement mods to it. The mods involve swapping about about a dozen components to bring it more in line with JTM specs.

Next after that is going to be a SLO clone build. The transformers I originally bough for the GT120 build were designed by Alex Catlow of Sirius Amplification. They can be used with his Sweet Lucy Overdrive PCB (updated SLO) build. It's not listed on his website, but I just contacted him about purchasing a chassis from him too. Once I hear back from him I'll be making a purchase. From there is getting all the parts I need together.

Last project I have on the list is to build another guitar. I have a couple I'm trying to decide on. I have a couple of rebuilds and scratch builds I have in mind. Top of the list is an Ibanez Iceman bass VI scratch build or covert a Gibson Firebird guitar build I did a while back into a Thunderbird bass. I want to give a special shoutout to @NowYou'rePlayingWithPower for gifting me some really nice pieces of figured maple that may end up as a top for one of these projects.

I want to take my time on all these projects to do them right. I have tendency to want to rush through things to get them finished so that's going to be a challenge to force myself to slow down and savor the experience. So hopefully; along with a few non gear related projects, will keep me busy for all of 2025 and maybe into 2026.
Anyway, wish me luck on these endeavors. I really hope the come out decent and I can show them off to everyone here.

Man lots of coals in the fire!! That’s an impressive list. Alex makes killer iron.

I'm stoked to see your matamp build, those things sound savage with pedals

I'm not sure if all the components I bought for it are adequate or not. I know I got all the proper ratings, but I don't know much about the different brands. I got orange drop caps where I could since most people say they are good quality. I'd have to look at my receipt to know for sure, but I bought Vishay, TC Connectivity and YAGEO for the bulk of the other components. Most of the reviews say those are pretty good brands. I'm confident I can build a working amp, but I'm really flying by the seat of my pants on how the different brands will end up affecting the overall tone.

If i remember correctly the GT120 is a relatively simple circuit

In general, the more simple the circuit it is, the more the electrolytics affect the sound - just like tubes

IME though, far more important than the brand of electrolytic components is the iron :dunno:

All the top of the line caps in the universe sprinkled with fairy dust wont do any good if you're cheaping out on the transformers

Especially in an amp like that, that's literally designed to have insane headroom and take pedals well

Awesome stuff, MAAH!
Can't wait to see what you come up with.
I always love your builds.
