My VFE Ice Scream "Mint" Overdrive.

So far ... sorta dig ...

I have never boosted before and this thing actually has a HUGE array of sounds. It will definitely take some time to work with but here is a quick "in room" clip showing some basic riffing (and really bad leads)!

So far I don't regret the purchase but not sold on it either. I may just not be a "boost" guy. I'll mic it up and make a proper clip soon.

Rough iPhone Clip:

This is my Splawn Quickrod with the low B+ option, Splawn 2x12 with Celestion 65 watt Creambacks and my PRS SC245 with 57/08's. There's a little Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe at the end of the clip.

It seems to add saturation and remove some clarity - no?

That's me needing to work with the mid sweep and lo pass/hi pass more. I noticed that too. It definitely has me wanting to dig into it more though. I'm usually really hot/cold with stuff. Had my Strymin Timeline for less than a day and knew I would be selling it.

(Need a delay?)

Looks sweet.
Yeah. Saw the mint green and metallic pink sparkle and immediately decided a needed a guitar in this color scheme!!! Maybe a Rhoads style V! Reverse headstock and ebony board!

Have you tried the Maxon od808?

If not it's definitely worth checking out.

No bells and whistles, just straight to the point. I love the Maxon.

I just got my VFE today, very interesting pedal.

I love the options it has. You can even adjust the frequency cut/boost and compression amount from the trim pot inside the pedal.

I've only had a few minutes with it and it's definitely going to take some time to play around.

Very well built pedals IMO.

Guess I should have updated.

Put some time in with the Ice Scream and it slays! Keeps the Splawn tone in tact but really pushes it nice. Got a Maxon 808X too

Awesome to hear.

That 808x was meh to me, sold it within a few days. Seemed more like a distortion pedal to me. Definitely not the same as the od808.

That thing looks way too complicated to me. Does look like that pedal would be really cool once you've got it all figured out.

Curious to try the Ice Scream and other VFE. They are a bit complex but damn they sound cool and are fine pedals. Hand built by leprechauns.

Once I learn how to dial mine in I'll post a clip too.

Is anyone selling an Ice Scream or know where to find one?

I have a VFE The Scream pedal which looks very similar. It does take some time to tweak but lots of great tones in it. I generally prefer my Cusack Screamer for goosing overdriven amps but if I need a TS flavor to push a clean amp I prefer the VFE.
