my friend has been in the market for an amp for quite a while and finally decided to pull the trigger on a herbie.

he had me over to check out his toys and MAN what a guitar collection he has!

sick charvel strat, Fender ej strat, eb wolfgang, ESP kamakaze, and a RIDICULOUS custom superstrat made by a company called extreme---it's a guy who does paint jobs for bc rich, dean, etc. it was like a mix of anderson and GMW styling and tone. SUPER rad.

but the star of the show was herbie. we started out running dry into a Marshall greenback 4x12, then added a second v30 4x12, then i stuck my replex into the parallel fx loop for some jape, then pulled the replex

and finally inserted a hotplate between herbie and the dry cab for a line out, which i sent to the replex feeding my coyote for a diezel/mojave wet/dry config. switched to my tyler for more familiar tone territory.

MASSIVE tone. we were ear to ear grin as we dialed in EJ like clean and lead tones, VH brown territory, and lynch metal. the kamikaze squealed like a pig even with the amp set to EJ lead tone...ch 2 +, treble rolled off, and master presence way low!

he had that glazed over enlightened look in his eyes by the end and i left him my replex to mess with.

once again, awesome amp Peter!!!! i LOVE channel 2+

Hi Pat.

Tell him to engage the mid cut with the clean channel every now and then too ;)

my friend!

hey, i was wondering....can he use the compensated out on the back of the amp to drive a delay and a second amp for a wet cab,
eliminating the need for a hotplate to pull a line out from?

and we were using the parallel loop because it looks like that loop is the only one with a send level control, and since we were using a replex delay pedal, i wanted more control over what was hitting it's input as to not overload it,
but i'd like to use the serial loop because the replex delay is always mixing in dry and wet signals...there is no dedicated wet output on the pedal.

is there a way to control the send level of the serial loop?

much thanks,

Pat

now now olaf,

i'm trying to steer him away from the scooped mentality and go after classic old school tones...more mids!

but rest assured we did visit that side as well and it certainly does allow for some sparkle.

with the eric johnson strat, it was really fun chasing ej tones. he was blown away with ch 2+ when i rolled off the treble and presence, with the replex providing some echoplex-like delay to a second amp. violin time!

the cleans were also very sweet and if i had a compressor and a nice tc chorus pedal, this guy would've died.

Hello Pat,

please use the send jack for the wet rig.

The parallel loop has only a return level pot.

You can control the send level with the
volume pots on the channel, but we are
very close to standart levels in the loop.

Never had problems with any "difficult" units.

When is next soccer game ?

:D

will the herbert still produce the dry sound to the dry cab,

if i take the signal from the series loop send jack to feed the replex (mono delay) and a second amp/cab,

without plugging back in to the herbert series return?

and as far as soccer, we have a game today!

here's a highlight video of my younger son's soccer skills:

Yes, dry sound on the dry cab.
No break in the loop.

Thanks for the link :D
