defenantly really looking good for the Green Berets! only got a hour on them, so don't know what the break in will change?

liking them way better from the get go than the Chinese Celestion, so guess that's a good thing? took a lot of break in on the Chinese RI greenbacks before i took a liking to them.

as they are right now, the Green Berets have a pretty similar voicing as the Chinese RI greenbacks only the mid focus is just a little bit lower and i'd say they got just a little more low end. looking like i might run them together?

for now they seem more woody sounding than the RI's, part of that may be the mid focus and part stiff cones? but, guessing they might stay a little more woody sounding if the mid focus stays where it is?

wish i new more about who made what on these speakers, but guess it doesn't matter. some of the stuff looks pretty similar to Celestion, don't have an Eminence out where i can look at it.

so, a yea!

single or a pair?

quatro

sweet, I want to try some other WGS. Id like to try a pair of GB's but wattage wise that would be pushing it with a 50watt amp.

Id like to know the suppliers as well, but I do keep hearing conflicting reports... that dave hasnt confirmed or denied about where they are actually assembled. Ive seen some people say he imports then assembled speaker labels and sells. and I have also heard that he imports the materials and they are then assembled at his warehouse.

Either way, cheaper speakers are always welcomed by me. I love the v30's I have from them.

Sold. :)

I've been wanting some for a while... I think a bandmate and I are going to have to fill up some empty 4x12s we have lying around.

Yea Dave is pretty mysterious about stuff like that.

The price of these speakers will be going up to $79, like the G12H30 clones which were just released. I think he plans to sell speakers to cab builders for a heavy discount like $45 and then charge for raw speakers a higher price around $79.

Teh ghey. It might have been acceptable for them to go up to, say, $60, but that's basically doubling the price again, and this is a direct sale here, not a brand name thing resold and marked up again. I'm not taking a risk on them for the same price as the real thing from Avatar. While the Veteran 30 is outright better as far as I am concerned, I don't think that was really such a hard thing to pull off. I think Celestion has just cheaped out on them, and regardless, it's still not my favorite speaker, so that doesn't amount to much of a saving grace to me. As far as the others are concerned, they're just different. Oh well. It was a good deal while it lasted.

He had no markup for dealers factored into his prices. I'm guessing he'll be selling through dealers soon and in that case (to be fair to the dealers) his direct prices have to match or slightly exceed what the dealers can sell them for.

Expect to see Warehouse speakers in dealers soon...

That's what I took from the gear page thread too. An also some people need to lighten up over there :gethim:

Welp, I threw in for a quad today at work on an impulse... we'll see how they turn out. I've got to do quite a bit of a cab rebuild... need a new back and wiring panel for some bulk cabs I bought. Might take a little while, but we'll see.

update

got maybe 8 to 10 hours on them. they are defenantly woodier and warmer than the Chinese Greenbacks, but ended up being wrong about the low end on them or atleast partly wrong.

they maybe do have more low end at low volume than the Chinese, but they can't be pushed as hard or they'll mush out.

so as is they are fairly decent speakers, but don't think i'm gonna run them together with the Chinese because they can't be pushed as hard.

also guess i'd take a Chinese over them, but i'm still keeping the Green Berets around to have for when i want that sound.

so guess my take on them is, at $45 they're still a go if you want a mellower Green Back. but when he jumps the price, i'd have to go for the Chinese Celestion.

when you say push them.. how much power are you talking? would a 50watter cranked be pushing a quad hard?

pushing them would be a wide open 100 watter or technically 90?

really by pushing, i guess i'm also talking about running some bass. the Green Berets will do allright with a 100 watt head at the same volume as the Chinese, just might have to set the bass a little lower on the amp with them vs the Chinese.

but yea, i think they'll be fine with a 50watter. my intentions for now is to run the Green Berets with a 40watt amp i've got.

and then run the Chinese with a 100watt, and may mix them with some 75's since i've got a pair of them. then need to decide on 2 more speakers to go with them. would like some kind of aluminum dust cap JBL clone, but my budget is the 70 to $80 range so that's probably not gonna happen. Weber could do the aluminum, but not sure i wanna wait on them?
