My name is Eric but just call me E or whatever suits you. Came here looking for less constipated option to TGP

I'm Detroit Metro Area born and raised
Love Stooges, James Gang, Bob Seger System, Early Steve Miller, Faces, King Crimson, Mothers, Beefheart, add jazz and big band era as well

Favorite guitarists...Andy Gill & Michael Landau

I'm not a professional musician, I don't gig...just play for myself. Been working on JB version of "Goodbye Pork pie Hat" (only the opening part before he starts going crazy) as I find it mesmerizing.

My living situation is unique so I have a pretty simple rig and mostly have to listen thru damn cans.
Get to crank it every now and then and it's like having an eargasm!!!

Welcome to RT....get ready to GAS about high gain amps....unless that's not your thing.
It's all good but I'm a grumpy fuck partial to vintage stuff. I like a little Slayer or Exodus from time to time, Pantera, but hell they're probably vintage to the younger gen?
Same with Speed/Shred
regardless of genre, I respect the technical side of the playing but the music itself often does not move me. Listening/Watching old Shawn Lane sweep picking vids always blow me away and I LOVE RAUNCHY fuzz! Years back I wanted a Carol Ann in the worst way possible 🤣

You ever happen to stumble across the old Memphis Monster Shawn Lane forum from the 2000s?
I was first turned on to him 15+ years back at a used vinyl store. They were playing the Lane, Helleborg, Sipe live cuts complication...Temporal Analogs of Paradise(?). Shawn had some very creative edgy sounds that really put the hook in me.

Greetings! Certainly less congested than TGP.

It also seems to me that the opinions on gear that you get here are based on people actually owning and playing the gear, compared to TGP where most people just parrot shit they heard on YouTube reviews
