Hi guys, i've searched for this topic and saw some posts on rig-talk but i still don't get it and would appreciate some help.

I have my ground control pro set to 4 presets and 8 instant access. In the 4 presets I'd like 1,2,3 to represent channels 1, 2 and 3 on the herbert respectively.

I already know how to set the patch from the axe fx i want to the appropriate preset on the ground control, but i don't get how to also associate the desired herbert channel to that same preset?

am i making sense?? Thanks!

I don't have a Herbert, but I have a VH4 and they should be rather similar from their programming point-of-view.

1. Add Herbert to your GCP Equipment list and if desired assign it to a particular MIDI-channel
2. Make sure Herbert is reading the same channel or is in omni mode (= all 16 channels)
3. Look from your GCP presets that the command value send to Herbert is different for all of the GCP presets (i.e. preset 1/value 1, chan.2./2 and 3/3/)
4. Save your GCP presets and exit from the editing
5. Hit that preset you just created (e.g. 1)
6. Set the Herbert to the desired channel (+ loops on/off, etc.) by hand and press store
7. Hit another preset (e.g. 2) and do the same
8. Try that they are OK

So to program Herbert you basically:
- Send a certain MIDI-signal to it
- Adjust the amp to the channel, loops etc. you wish this preset will then engage
- Store the setting

awesome, thanks! i got it all working...one random question, i have it set up so it stays on the same axe fx preset so the 4 non instant access presets basically are for diezel channel changing and the IA switches control wah, delay, chorus, flanger and the axe-fx looper. I notice that if i switch channel with GCP via the preset, all the IA switch lights turn off even if they're still on on the axe-fx? any way to not make them all turn off when switching presets that only control the herbert?

does that even make sense?

I must say that I don't know an answer to this question as I am using my GCP with 10 presets/bank -mode. Maybe you could look potential answers from VoodooLab forum or ask directly from them. At least I got very good answers to my questions years ago.

A random idea to your random question:
Under the "Instant Acess" -menu in setup, check what the IAs are definet to control. I also wonder that wether it is possible to define that are some of them on or off for each individual preset?
