I was playing around with the M4 rack tonight and found a really cool tone. See if you can guess what module it is. Signal path is M4-> TC Gmajor 2 -> Randall RT/250 (EL34) and guitar is a Carvin CS6 goldtop-all stock. No OD or distortions or boosts used. I recorded this super quick, no post production so it is raw. Threw a 57 on the cab and rolled.

Yes, I am an EJ fanboi   This tone just inspired me to try to cop that kind of feel. Woody, violin sustain!

I'm curious to see if anyone can tell which module I used....

I haven't played through a COD (yet), but I'd guess either COD or VX Ch B with the gain quite cranked - i.e., it sounds like a 'not-super-high-gain' module with the gain cranked.

Nice EJ-style riffs BTW . . . cliffs of dover would sound great through that signal chain. I might like that tone better than the live tones I've heard from EJ live recordings . . .

I know! It's a killer one :D !No OD,no compr.?Oaw!Me like  Nice phrasing/playing  I listened more than once...

I think its the BMAN on ChB...with the mids cranked, treble down...and bass at noon...

Wow Scott, what a great tone. Funny, the first thing that popped into my head was COD, just like Jason thought. It's so smooth, yet the definition is there. Nice EJ take too.

Scott,Dude that sounds great man!!I've been taking the wife down to Agoura to see EJ last couple of years and that tone OWNS Brother!!!!!!

I never would of thought bassman, much better tone than EJ, KILLER CHOPS!!!!

...And the answer is...

COD Channel A, gain maxed, treble off. Bass at 9:00, mids @ 1:30. BTW--both tubes are JAN 5751s.

I've owned the COD for a while but never got this out of it. I was approaching it more as a mid gain Fender/Boogie sound. I didn't know it had those sounds in it. :D

This is why I love this Egnater stuff!

Thanks for listening.

Reason why I thought BMAN, is that I can get that tone out of the BMAN on ChB with those types of knob settings and a JP5751 in V1!!! :)

Nice tone Scott. That's really saturated. Way more gain than I'd figure for channel A. Reminds me of your EG3/4 clip. You have great touch for sure. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to get mine.

Thanks!

Thats really only one flavor of the COD. I was using it in a totally different context until yesterday. I just stumbled on that sound. The COD is a really versatile module I think.

Im late to the party but I would have said COD from the get go. Whether or not you believe me is up to you ;)

Of course it goes without saying: Great tone and great playing!

I'm starting to think I am the late one to the COD party. I've had it for a while and never really dove into it. I assumed it was more of a blues and jazz fusion type of thing. Never thought I could get that type of tone out of it. With being so happy with my other modules I just never explored it.
My bad!

Thanks for the comments.

Well mine just showed up!!!! I'm going to break this thing in at practice today. The few minutes I've spent with it confirm my beliefs about it for sure. This is my new lead module.

I knew it was the COD.

It's the only one that compresses that way. I'm assuming the pregain tonestack has a lot to do with it.

Def one of my favorite modules. It makes me play totally differently from the other modules.

I really like how the pregain tonestack interacts with the gain controls. Definitely different than all the other gainier modules. I agree it makes you want to play differently. I can't stop playing it now!
Shows off all your deficiencies though. Good for practicing.
