So I traded my kids Gretch guitar on craigslist for a new Rem 870 shotgun and 2 knives....I made out lol
The other day he heard a song and wanted to try to play it....after a year of not touching it. So I had to tell him it was gone. I planed on getting him a LP Studio to replace it.
We went to GC the other day and he really liked the Melody maker in flat black. Not a bad guitar for $649. They ran my credit and gave me $1500 18 month no interest lol so I ended up bringing home a Ibanez custom red flame saber MIJ $530 and RG350DX $199 made in ind. They knocked off $100 off the LP to sweeten the deal.
The saber had issues after I got it home. Better lighting I could see the frets were worn alot, Started making more noise in my 20th X than it did in the stores Fender twin.
The RG350 played really really really well, felt great, and resonates really nice but has crappy electronics
I took the Saber back and had them credit my card. Im keeping the '09? RG350DX but going to replace all the electronics and block off the Floyd Rose Trem. Cant believe how nice a crappy Indonesian guitar feels. Still has the plastic film on the back of the tuners. So I basically got it for $100 in the deal. Pretty close to mint with a spot smaller than the size of a pin head down by the jack.
Im swapping out the Tuners with Locking tuners for easier string changes. Pull the string through the tuner down to the Floyd Rose leaving the Ball end at the headstock. Makes more sense than cutting off the ball end for the Floyd.
Any idea on where to get good electronics for it? Thinking JB jazz pups and not sure about the middle pup. The guitar is white with rosewood neck.
