Does the gumminess go away eventually?
I actually have to wipe the back of the neck down with a wet rag after a bit of use every time I use it...it's a bit frustrating...it's not from my hands, they're clean.

and obligatory pic....love this guitar!

Break the 0000 steel wool up Adam

Nice guitar
So the outer layer of the finish is coming off and gumming up?

Thanks Scott! I traded my Mesa Lonestar combo for it.
Locking tuners, jumbo frets, noiseless pickups, S-1 switching...already blocked the trem...she's real nice.

I love the Deluxe Strats!!! Hate the S1 switching though and V necks weird me out. Sure is purdy though. :D

I dont know what the gumminess is about though.. . Mine has a satin finished neck and its smooth as butter without being sticky or too slick.

Those V-Necks play great. None of the ones I have played have had any gumminess on the neck, though

as far as the gummyness, Lay off of the hair products. They are comming out through your pores when you sweat :hys:

All kidding asside, Id try wiping the back of the neck with some guitar polish or lemon oil.

My American Standard is OK but my new ES-339 Gibson is sticky and I have to wipe it all the time. Dirt clings to the Gibson like crazy even if my hands are clean it gets to be a real mess. I had a 79 Strat that I sanded down and finished with hand rubbed tung oil and it was OK.

The S-1 switching is kind of muddy for rhythm stuff but fills out soloing nice....the V-neck feels great to me, it's a soft V, so it's not really noticeable, it plays really fast. I have big hands though.

I play for five minutes, the neck is gummy....like I've been eating popsickles without washing my hands then play. Hope it goes away.
