clarity, tightness, thump, good metal tones..hagen or hebert ?

I never played a Hagen but Herbert is insanely good. It can do all sorts of metal seriously.. You plug in, turn up the volume and it brings an evil smile on your face :)

Hagen has a bit of a "looser" feel.
If that's good for you, then sweet.

Both are AMAZING amps and I have both.
Hagen = 4 channels and individual controls
Herbert = 3 channels with mid-cut (very cool option)

Both have great cleans, IMO, and excellent gain channels. As with ANY amp, you will dial it in the way YOU like it.
IME, the mid-cut option makes Herbert "more metal," but that said I LOVE channel 2's tones for anything bluesy and crunchy.
Hagen has 4 channels and each picks up where the last leaves off. As you can imagine channel 4 breathes fire

In the end, both are sweet amps. Best thing to do is try them out and listen with YOUR ears.
You are the only one who can say which...then again, I didn't, I kept both :D
